You can also skip the donation there. It's illegal to charge an entrance fee on a public street. Once in a while the people collecting those donations get aggressive and try to make it seem like you have to pay, if you just keep walking they cannot do anything about it.
My personal rule is that if I'm there for the music, I pay. But if I'm just there to eat/drink, I don't.

i paid friday but not sunday and got berated for it at both entrances (i left after rlyr to go on a run)

What is it? An aluminum solo cup? Stainless Steel but yes. They were supposed to be giving them out at the gates with your $10 donation. I guess they are slightly larger than the plastic cups they are using so you got a bigger pour too. |

I haven't seen an estimate for yesterday, but I arrived just before 7 while Rhiannon Giddens was still on stage. By that time you could not even approach the great lawn let alone the pavilion there was so much overflow. We ended up finding some space outside of Pritzker where the sound was still decent. Capacity is normally 11k, obviously there was way more than that, but I'm not sure about 23k. |
