I tweeted at them, it's happening. September 22 & 23. Yeah it's always in the middle of September. $10 donation to get in like last year. Last year was the first year they did a $10 donation. Before that they sold tickets. |

I saw this earlier, what a joke. I live in one of the buildings that this fest sits outside of, and can tell you that the woman quoted in this article does not speak for the majority of the residents in the area. |

every north side alderman gets a million of these phone calls after a street festival. Other than minor logistical changes they don't ever really mean anything. DNA info is notoriously shitty at reporting on local things

The concept of hyper-local reporting is great but DNAinfo (in chicago, supposedly their new york reputation is quite good) has the reputation of being notoriously shitty clickbait from inexperienced journalists who publish anything often without citation of other writers/reporters. It is good they have successfully unionized thus far however and i hope somehow they continue to prosper without making the fucking Ricketts a penny.

I think the Metro show was sold out as well, and they ended up adding another (3rd) show at Thalia.
They presumably get a bit of a hometown bump, but yeah it sounds like they're popular enough to be full time musicians at this point. Good for them.
