wonder woman was pretty good (though probably not amazing but also that's what i get for waiting this long and catching up)
best in the DC universe so far but that's a low bar.

The final fourth or so of the movie is definitely its weak point

viewed a few movies this weekend again..
LIFE - not that Martin Lawrence one, but the sci-fi one with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. Overall I liked it. Good special effects, interesting monster/creature and the acting wasn't terrible. But far too predictable.
ScarJo in the Shell - Weird movie, but it was pretty to look at. I've never seen the anime, and I'm likely to never watch it, but a live action remake of a beloved anime classic in 2017 (20 years apart I think) seems really stupid to me. Especially since between 1996 and now there have been plenty of storylines just like this one. Special effects were neat, but again, not a whole lot of meat on this one.

i watched "kong skull island" on a plane. it wasn't good and there were too many characters. the attention would turn to another character and I'd be like "oh yeah I forgot that guy existed." John C. Reilly's great

This probably belongs in Arbee's music doc thread, but I saw the Oasis:Supersonic documentary. It was pretty good, refreshing to see a documentary that just recounts the rise of a band and stops right at the peak. The best part for me was when the Gallaghers (briefly) talked about their neglectful and abusive father.

Yeah I saw that on Amazon Prime awhile ago -- it was better than I expected, but I thought it was going to talk about the full history of the band as opposed to stopping right at the peak of their popularity. I didn't read the synopsis obviously.

so apparently moviepass, which is a jukely/netflix like service for going to movies at theaters, lowered their plans to $9.95. allowing you to see one movie per day at almost any theater that accepts debit cards.
haven't seen all the new details yet (i did look into this when i lived in nyc, and i think we might have talked about it on the board before), but seems pretty crazy that they can do this.

i tried to sign up but their website has been down since the announcement lol.
It's kind of an annoying service but as someone who likes seeing movies alone it rules

I love the idea, but I'm cautious, because apparently, previously:
Now, granted, this is old info that seems to apply pretty specifically to when it was an annual contract, but I'd want to know that wouldn't happen before I signed up.

yeah, that was a big reason why i never joined in nyc. they put in big lettering now "cancel anytime" which doesn't necessarily mean they dropped all of that requirement, but it does imply that they did since that was a reason people didn't signup before.
we'll see how it goes.

I don't like anime that much either.

"I don't like anime" is the most frustrating sentiment someone who (I'm assuming) is unfamiliar with the medium can say imho. It's a statement that treats a medium as if it's a genre. But w.e, you do you.

But w.e, you do you. That's bc you like anime. I've watched a few. And it's just a type of film I don't care for. It's the same if I said I didn't care for animated films or action films or any other type. I don't see why that's so hard to grasp.

I mean, let's be clear, that's like saying, I watched The Running Man, didn't care for it, so I probably wouldn't like Alien, it's just another sci-fi movie.

True but i also can say I don't like 3D movies, or Smell-o-vision. It's a stylistic issue, not a narrative issue. And not really a big deal. Guess I'm a weebo or whatever.

Really interested in MoviePass now that the price has dropped but afraid to actually buy it. So far the only complaints I've seen in articles and reviews are the really obvious ones that the pass outliens I could it's rules (no repeat viewings, one movie per 24 hours, not per day,)

Would be nice if Movie Pass had a list of participating theatres somewhere on their website their app is still messed up but i believe its most theaters in Chicago except for Landmark which stinks. I signed up because I'm curious and even if it sucks I'll only do it for one month I'll see at least one movie for $9.99 whatever

I would see so many movies there for 9.99 a month.
