Would be nice if Movie Pass had a list of participating theatres somewhere on their website their app is still messed up but i believe its most theaters in Chicago except for Landmark which stinks. I signed up because I'm curious and even if it sucks I'll only do it for one month I'll see at least one movie for $9.99 whatever Their app is working alright for me now, but I figured out that unless a theater does e-ticketing, it's not going to show up in your list of available theaters until you activate the card they send you. Right now, I have one theater to choose from and it does e-ticketing. Also, there is a map search thing by zip code at the bottom of their web page that gives you a list of participating theaters.

It's annoying that the Landmark which is the closest theatre to me isn't on there, but Webster Place and Music Box are so I will probably sign up.

Ok, the theaters three blocks from me are on there. I'll look into this.
My only concern is that these theaters do assigned seating.

Movie theater I regularly go to is on there. AMC is apparently going to file a lawsuit, though?

On a busy weekend I actually prefer theaters with assigned seating. I've had to ask groups to slide down a seat and people get so indignant about accomodating other human beings.

The thing that sucks about the assigned seating thing is that you can't buy ahead of time. So you'd probably get shafted, especially on busy weekends.

I love the assigned seating fwiw, I usually pay the extra dollar to buy my ticket a day in advance and get exactly the seats I want.

Unless it's like An Event going to the movies alone is my preferred route.

Planning to see In This Corner of the World tomorrow since it's in a theatrical run rn, actually. Oh right, forgot to talk about this.... went to the movie but it was dubbed when the website/ticket/ticker all said subtitled... and the only subtitled bits were for signs and songs in Japanese, but those subtitles were obscured because they were cropped by the projection. Walked out after a few minutes and got a refund. I'll watch this another way.

Trip To Spain is so good people should only make movies where they go on trips

"we are thinking of making a star wars"
"what about instead two friends go to the place where they would do the star wars and instead eat gorgeously filmed food while doing celebrity impressions"

I am genuinely excited. I love the first two Trips. this one is good because it teaches you the universal lesson that making the film philomena won't alone bring you happiness.

I saw Logan Lucky and enjoyed it. Pretty standard heist stuff but the cast is wonderful and it's all a lot of fun.
If we're comparing to Ocean's Eleven I think LL has less tension, somehow - I was never worried about them getting caught or killed or anything, which is problematic. However, nothing in LL is as cringeworthy as the Julia Roberts material in Ocean's, which is straight up bad in the year 2017.

I know that's Oceans 12 is definitely a bad movie but I actually really like it, despite how dumb the Julia Roberts thing is.
Anyways, Logan Lucky was pretty good but it could have used some serious trimming. It had like, 4 endings which is annoying as hell. Hillary Swank was unnecessary in every single way, and the Seth McFarlane stuff was super cringe worthy. Other than that, I liked it and had a lot of fun watching it.

Oh I forgot about Ocean's 12 haha. I meant her entire role in 11, where she's basically just George Clooney's sex object. Like, it's real gross how she left him because he was a slimy criminal asshole and then he does not at all change but she goes back to him only because Andy Garcia is revealed to also be a slimy criminal asshole.

I liked Vincent Cassel's 30-minute long laser dance heist sequence in Ocean's 12.

The critical re-evaluation of Ocean's Twelve is baffling to me. The heist movie where none of the heists ever mattered at all.

We saw Ingrid Goes West over the weekend. I think Aubrey Plaza is great and Ice Cube's son was awesome, but overall it was a pretty mediocre movie. I think mostly because the storyline was tiresome. Could certainly have waited to see that one when it pops up on Netflix next year.

There's a 4K restoration of Blade Runner playing at the Denver Alamo Drafthouse later this month. Haven't seen that movie in about 10 years, so I'll probably try to grab tickets. I'm sure this is something they'll be doing at other theaters, too.
