12 mins into Seven Samurai and already like so into it and hype. Ecstatic to see it is 3.5 hours. What a great film. I think I bought the wrong boxset. Ran and Yojimbo next

kurosawa is objectively better for binging than bergman This is objectively incorrect look I say this as someone who put Scenes from a Marriage at #1 when we did our board movie list in 2012 and who has also fallen asleep in middle of late night viewings of three different Bergman movies

I watched Cosmopolis yesterday and I think I appreciated it more than I liked it. I'd need to rewatch I think to pick up on some stuff. It's pretty hilarious in a dry dry dry way. Cronenberg still GOAT tho.

Y'all, I just remembered that A Brighter Summer Day is four hours long, and I've been putting it off because of that.
I guess I got some time now, though.

I'm watching Contagion for the first time. Horrible idea. (Hey, original boarders) Was that the movie that a past-boarder made a walk-by appearance in? Or was that Outbreak (the one with Dustin Hoffman)?

So Criterion is offering 30% off all in stock titles on their website until April 30 if you run out of movies to watch.
I watched Unfriended last night, pretty decent little horror film, an interesting concept (web cam footage only) to be sure.

They also announced their June titles. Portrait of a Lady on Fire, The Cameraman, An Unmarried Woman, Come and See(!!!!), and a stand-alone release of Tokyo Olympiad. Incredible month from them.

oh man, 47 Meters Further Down (47 Meters Most Downest? 94 Meters Down? The Downering? whatever) is straight traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash
i mean the first one was bullshit too but holy cow i think every scene in this one had something abrasively, offensively stupid about it. and i'm someone who usually loves exploitative bad shark moves
