Forgot to mention this aspect: When I was 10, my parents actually planned a vacation to South Dakota just so we could go to see where Dances w/ Wolves was filmed. "Hey look, here's some of the blood spatter from where that general shot himself!"

"Hey look, here's some of the blood spatter from where that general shot himself!" we did a roadtrip one summer where we went well out of our usual path to visit the field of dreams in iowa. my dad was so looking forward to playing catch in that outfield. ten minutes after leaving home, i realized we forgot our gloves. my dad refused to turn around because "they have gloves there that we can borrow." they did not have gloves there. costner movie-inspired vacations are probably a bad idea.

yes. i only joined this board to be closer to you. and i decided now was the time to reveal our relation by posting about the costner love that was imposed on us in our youth.

Watched In Bruges last night for the first time. Honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen? Legit fantastic. This is also like a top ~15 film for me. Did you like Banshees of Inisherin?

I sure didn't like it that much compared to In Bruges which is why I asked

I enjoyed In Bruges more, but I think Banshees is probably a better movie.

This was gearing up to be a low-key favorite but there is a scene near the end that felt unnecessarily cruel and left me a bit unsettled tbh (ymmv). Glen Powell is terrific though and I'm pretty sure someone went back in time and cloned Jamie Gertz and renamed her Adria Arjorna.

Saw Do The Right Thing at the Davis Theatre last night. Haven't seen it in like 15 years.
I forgot how bad of an actor Spike Lee is in this but otherwise a legit perfect movie.

Longlegs was dogshit. The disconnect between the reviews I’ve seen and what I just watched is wild.

I didn't think Longlegs was bad, it did enough things right and was interesting enough that I liked it, but that script really needed some polishing, both dialogue and how plot points came about. Definitely overhyped a bit from the initial reviews I was reading, because just about everything it was trying to do was incredibly up my alley but didn't quite nail it

We went to see Kinds of Kindness yesterday. I thought this was the movie equivalent of a band releasing a B-sides/outtakes album. Well-shot material by a talented guy, but the stories play more as unrealized ideas cobbled together. Worse, it's hardly ever absurdly laugh-out-loud funny as The Lobster or The Favourite. My wife's review: "That was weird as fuck, I'm never seeing any movies by that guy ever again."

we had free tickets to a screening in Evanston of the Icelandic movie, Touch. Without reading a plot summary ahead of time (there was nothing on Wikipedia or elsewhere), as I do with just about every other movie I see, I kept expecting the worst to happen to every character, but it didn't.

I stand by the dogshit comment.
Anyway, I'm going to a free showing of The Crow tomorrow at a local theater. Fuck yes.

over the weekend, the top-earning theater for “Twisters” was Regal Warren Moore in Oklahoma City.
this is the same theater that had damage from an ef-5 tornado in 2013
