Grabbed a 5-pack to the Denver Film Festival this fall. Nothing announced yet, but they've consistently put together a great program. First time doing a pack instead of individual tickets, so I'm pretty amped.

Rogue Nation was next on the Mission Impossible rewatch (each of these are getting a write up whether you like it or not)
I don't think I liked it as much as 4, I think the set pieces were better in that one and this one has more kind of ridiculous moments*, like running down a narrow hallway more than once while being shot at it and the villains still missing every shot that took me out of it for a second. And I think Brad Bird's direction was slightly better than McQuarries here (although the direction is fine and still a huge step up from Abrams). Also I liked the way they used the technology in MI4 better.
But it's still really good. The opening was a lot of fun and a great way to set the tone. The car chase into the motorcycle chase is the best vehicle chase so far. The underwater thing was a great set piece and fun. Somehow every single movie (except maybe 2) puts Ethan basically in the crosshairs of the US government and yet it somehow keeps making sense that he's reinstated after but then being hunted again? I'm honestly impressed how many times they've pulled that off without it feeling too contrived, I guess the nature of the IMF helps.
Noting that 1 and 5 are super close in my book, this is my ranking so far 4>1>5>3>2
*For the record anytime I say something is ridiculous with these movies, I'm going by Mission Impossible standards. Like the opening sequence to Rogue Nation is arguably ridiculous but I loved it and it fits in, so that's not what I'm talking about. More when the characters get nonsensical plot armor, like what I mentioned above of villains missing shots in a narrow hallway or clear path, or something that just seems improbable for the rules already set.

We saw Nope tonight at the Davis. I really loved it. So far up my alley.
Better than Get Out but not as good as Us.

My wife and I really wanted to see that movie, but it hardly had any times in KC. It's come and gone.

Because I saw them around when they were first issued on vhs, I don't remember a lot about the kieslowski trilogy except for the last part of the third one, red.

New 4K restorations so def worth seeing if you get the chance. Sounds like Janus put a considerable amount of work into them

I realized I never made my last Mission Impossible post for Fallout. I watched it a few weeks ago.
This one I think is still my favorite. McQuarrie does a much better job directing here and the set pieces are great. Henry Cavill is great. Pacing very good. Finale is a lot of fun and tense. I have this one top of the series and for good reason.
Here's my final ranking 6>4>1>5>3>2
Now I'm pumped for 7 and 8
