My wife and I really enjoyed this. We also saw this today. This was pretty great.

Chicago film fest has a really tremendous lineup this year, probably one of their best. If you have the time I’d recommend making it for as many screenings as you can.

There's a lot of stuff that I want to see. I just need to figure out how much I can do without exhausting myself.

Do I need to have seen X to see Pearl? I would say yes. It is a great movie. There are some things that would be better if you saw X first.

I watched Collateral for the first time and it mostly ruled except the random audioslave kicking in to a montage of hazy mid 2000s looking establishing shots was definitely a 2004 choice and then right after was the club scene which was just kind of chaotic and I'm not sure I was a huge fan of that. But overall I liked it. I wrote a short film a few years ago with some of the ideas that this film explored, which was a parallel thinking sort of thing because I hadn't seen this, and that was really interesting to me seeing it expanded upon so much here. I also saw Barbarian this weekend which was thoroughly enjoyable. Most certainly not perfect but worth watching, though maybe on streaming or something

I didn’t think it was possible to make Bowie boring, but the filmmakers responsible for Moonage Daydream pulled it off. Slept through a solid third of the movie last night.

Help needed, board.
I had a writing assignment prepared based on A Ghost Story for my film criticism unit, but I'm no longer going to show it due to a recent tragedy involving students. Can anyone think of an alternate movie that is a.) polarizing/divisive, b.) short (i.e. 90-100 minutes), and c.) not obscure.

If not, I suggest Napoleon Dynamite.

I would not compare it to A Ghost Story at all but I feel like Cloverfield had that sort of reception and it's short. Granted I haven't seen it in years.
Reviews will probably lean positive but maybe Punch Drunk Love. Or Burn After Reading

Anyone have any ideas of what to see at the film festival? I'm finally getting around to making a list. If I lived in Chicago this would be my shortlist: Alcarras All the Beauty and the Bloodshed Banshees of Inisherin The Blue Caftan Broker Chile 1976 Decision to Leave Empire of Light Godland How to Blow Up a Pipeline If These Walls Could Sing Innocence The Killing of a Journalist The Lost King Metronom The Natural History of Destruction No Bears The Novelist’s Film One Fine Morning Pacification The Passengers of the Night Piaffe RMN Raymond and Ray Rounding Sick Somewhere Over the Chemtrails The Whale White Noise The Wonder The Year Between A mix of things that have some hype, interesting directors, or generally interesting to me plot descriptions.

passion of the christ is only 127 minutes even tho it is directed by anti-semitic schmuck extradordinaire mel gibson, I don't mind this movie, and kind of like it.
