passion of the christ is only 127 minutes even tho it is directed by anti-semitic schmuck extradordinaire mel gibson, I don't mind this movie, and kind of like it. it sounds like this is exactly what dij is going for

Actually strike that, I do believe someone’s spouse gets super dead in Crash, so if A Ghost Story is too much of a trigger than probably don’t do Crash.

Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine for the new Deadpool, because they apparently can't find anyone who can play Wolverine.

I’ve seen rumors that the Fox actors are tied to those characters for a couple more years. So the Marvel X-Men are still a ways out.

I saw Smile last night. I'm not as up on it as some of the critics, but it's pretty good. I didn't fall asleep like I did Monday night when I saw Days.

one would think some of that fleshes out neal's relationship with his wife to explain why she wouldn't even drive to pick him up at the train station at the end.

Probably as close to the 3 hour cut as we'll get. Maybe a boutique label like Kino will release different versions with the bonus scenes in the future.

Here's what I'll be seeing at the Denver Film Festival next month:
Metronom We Might As Well Be Dead The Quiet Girl The Lost King Godland
Thanks to bosma for providing a list for the Chicago fest - it synced up pretty well with the Denver schedule.

Reminder for Criterion flash sale. I grabbed Breathless and Shoah. I recently bought a used copy of this from the library. It doesn't have the booklet or whatever printed material comes with the set, but I felt I had to get it, as it was only 50 cents. I don't know if I'll ever watch the whole thing again.

Last night I watched Both Sides of the Blade and today I caught Stars at Noon in the theater. Two good movies, especially Stars at Noon. 2/2 on Denis films from this year and 8/8 on her films I’ve seen just in general

Saw the problematic movie the Whale yesterday with an Aronofsky Q&A. I mean, in some ways, it's like shot and scored like a horror movie so I understand the fatphobic stuff but also there's a fair amount of tenderness and empathy for the characters so like most 2020s era film discourse I think twitter is just being stupid. That said this movie was just a little too much for me and honestly a little sappier than it realizes it is. Brendan is great of course.
I expected Aronofsky to have awful vibes but he honestly seems cool.
