The HDR for Wall-E is wonderful. Criterion knocked it out of the park and the booklet with mostly Andrew Stanton’s sketches and notes is neat. Can’t wait to dive into more of the special features this weekend.

This was a little too long and boring at times, but overall, it was good.

I loved it ( Bones And All). It had a very Badlands feel to it and all the performances were wonderful. The scene where she meets her Mom was incredible and Chloe Sevigny was superb in it.

I wasn't expecting it to be as good as Blazing Saddles, but I thought A Million Ways to Die in the West would be funny enough. It wasn't even that. We bailed halfway through.

I rewatched Avatar for the first time in quite a while, and man that script isn't great. Some of the dialogue is like, really bad lol, specially in the beginning when it's trying to give exposition. And most of the side characters, specially the villains, are either super one note or caricatures or not developed at all. I never minded too much that the overall story is really derivative and predictable but combine that with bad dialogue and characterization and it's a bit rough
But, the world building is still really good and the art direction is nice and the CGI still holds up pretty well. Movie is also still overall entertaining, there's plenty of popcorn blockbusters out there with even worse scripts that aren't near as pretty to look at as this film nor paced as well. In fact with how long it is I'm impressed that it feels like it goes by pretty quick on a rewatch. So overall I wouldn't call it a bad movie
I'm still really curious what he does with this new one. Nothing about this makes me think a sequel in the same world can't be better, just needs a better script, and Cameron is pretty good at sequels. At least it should be very pretty to look at, I plan to see it

Surprised that Mulholland Drive is in the top 10. I knew it was on the last list, was it top 10? I kind of thought it was on there because it was getting lots of critical praise, but it wouldn't be on the next list. (I'm just curious, FTR, I think it's a great movie).
Also, hey, Parasite and Get Out.

Mulholland Drive was 28 last time. Definitely a big jump but I think the overall influence of the film is significantly more visible 10 years removed from the last iteration of the list

Just bought a ticket for the King Gizzard documentary that is showing tomorrow, it’s at a theater only about 15 minutes away from me. I thought they had a Chicago screening too, but I guess not

Emily the Criminal was pretty good. I didn't read anything about it before watching but the reviews I looked at this morning pretty much all agreed that it was an OK movie with a really excellent Aubrey Plaza performance that the rest of it couldn't rise up to and I agree with that.
Solid weeknight stream though.
