It seems like a lot of people are struggling with the sound mix on this one. Particularly on some of the VOs. I know I did.
EDIT: Re: Spiderverse

Thank you for saying that. I was really struggling with a number of questions during the movie. "Am I an old man who needs to adjust his hearing aids?" "Am I out of touch with media consumption?" "Was the edible too strong?"
Of course, maybe all of that is true, as well.
Another thing that didn't help is that for so much of the time none of the characters on screen even had visible mouths.
Still, I thought it was a really awesome translation of the comic book medium to the screen, and I think it's really embarrassing for Pixar to put out Elemental next to it.

Asteroid City was terrific. Honestly might be his best movie.

I love making a thing out of watching a movie or two during the day on 4th of July. Any recommendations?
I almost always go Jaws / Do the Right Thing.
Other previous selections: Independence Day Dazed and Confused Bad Boys The Sandlot (believe this was suggested on here a year or two ago)

I'm seeing Dial of Destiny tonight and hope it's not completely terrible.

It took a while for me to get into it, but Dial of Destiny was way better than I was expecting. I might have liked it more than Temple of Doom. The de-aging of Harrison Ford for the first 30 minutes or so actually looked pretty great at times. (Other times it just looked bad.)

It's that time of the year...50% off Criterions at B&N.

I saw Joy Ride on Saturday, and while it's pretty hilarious at times, the overall filmmaking isn't that great. Sherry Cola is great, though.

I watched Saving Private Ryan last night - first time since shortly after it was released. First and last 20 minutes still hit hard. Totally forgot Bradley Cooper, Ted Danson and Vin Diesel make appearances in this movie.

I was looking for a showtime to catch yesterday but they were all 45 mins away! Always wanted to catch Jaws in a theatre.

I don’t think Dead Reckoning is as fun as some of the other recent installments, but I didn’t hate it. Definitely some crazy action set pieces.
