I refuse to go watch a movie in a theater that serves food throughout the movie. I get angry if it's a movie I'm invested in.

I do appreciate that they tend to do some good special showings, but otherwise the idea of servers walking around during the movie and inevitably having to explain to people items on the menu is obnoxious to me. Last time I was there a woman was sitting two rows behind me who had no concept of loud/quiet and was basically shouting her order. She probably would have been booted for texting, but that was somehow fine.

I'm taking my kids to their first movie theater experience to see My Neighbor Totoro next week. They're pretty damn excited.

inevitably having to explain to people items on the menu We’ve seen dozens of movies at the Alamos in Brooklyn and Manhattan over the past several years and this never happens. basically shouting her order Also weird because they have you write down your order on a card. You’re only supposed to be able to order verbally before the feature starts. Maybe give it another shot if there’s something screening there that you want to see. I suspect your experience was an anomaly.

Saw Saltburn last weekend. It was stupid.
Saw Maestro last night. It was just okay.

This was pretty good. But a little too long and boring at times. But, overall, I would recommend it. This was okay. I saw the IMAX 3D version. The 3D looked really good.

Thanksgiving is so stupid and bad and fun.
The movie, that is. I guess the same applies to the holiday but for very different reasons.

I was thinking there was no way it would be better than the Grindhouse trailer. But the reviews seem to be pretty positive, it's 88% at RT right now. I might have to check it out.

I think I’ve accepted that I just don’t like Eli Roth films. Every one I’ve seen has left me cold. Except for Knock Knock which kinda just pissed me off.

I think this is actually the only one of his that I've seen, so I went in not knowing what to expect. Once I just came to accept how ridiculous it was, I had fun. I really could not watch some of the deaths because they were so brutal.

Thanksgiving seems like a fun 80s slasher throwback. I've seen Terrier 2 and I just don't get the appeal. There is a pretty big cult following of these films online and it confuses me.
I didn't enjoy Hostels or his other flicks, but Thanksgiving seems to be much different compared to anything else he's done.

I mean, it is DUMB--completely riddled with cliches. I couldn't figure out if they were intentional or just bad writing. Eventually, I decided to just go with whatever it was because it was funny.

I was so confused because the theater was packed, but it seemed like I was the only person laughing at the beginning. I didn't think my sense of humor was THAT much more morbid than others'. It was around the halfway point when it felt like other people were enjoying it the way I was.

Have you seen the fake trailer in Grindhouse for the film made 16 years ago? He's been thinking about making this film for that long. I think it's definitely playing on clichés, given that it started as a grindhouse film parody. I enjoyed it a lot personally, and also found it pretty funny and absurd. Here's the original fake trailer (very NSFW), in case you're not familiar:

We got our advanced tickets. We will be enjoying our Thanksgiving lunch and then seeing the movie. I'm thinking a new tradition.

After I watched the trailer, I was like, "Oh..."

Oddly, the one thing that kept me from seeing that movie was how old Matthew Broderick looks in the trailer. Still, the movie looked ok, but there was always a different movie that we chose to see instead.
