This Christmas noir filmed in a first person POV was a fun watch. There are some cool shots even with a muddy plot. Robert Montgomery playing Detective Marlowe is a choice I must say.

We saw this tonight. It was pretty good. (It was not the Spanish version. This was the only jpg that would post here)

I wanted to like that more than I did. It’s definitely worth a watch but like the last 20 minutes of it really annoys me kinda (I saw it Tuesday)
I saw it at an Alamo and in the pre show they played nic cage doing a live reading of an Edgar Allen Poe film he did in like 2018 or something. I had no idea I needed to watch that

Saw The Boy and the Heron last night. Really enjoyed it.
All the press for Poor Things right now is making me pretty psyched to see it again. I think that and All of Us Strangers are still my faves of the year.

Killers of the Flower Moon has to be one of the most beautifully shot films in recent memory. Just absolutely gorgeous.

My friend had an extra ticket for The Boy and the Heron last night, so I went and saw it again. The version we went to was the dubbed version, which was surprisingly good.

the premise behind this robbie williams documentary is basically to show him random videos of himself from over the years and have him react. some videos he's seen, some he hasn't. i feel like more could've been done, but it wasn't bad. it felt he was honest with himself talking about his addiction and his low points.

I saw Renaissance the other weekend, I didn't see the Beyonce tour but I can't imagine how the choreography, costumes etc would have translated to the cheap seats on the roof of the stadium where I would have probably been. Was great to see all of that stuff up close and all of the making of/behind the scenes as well. At 2 hours and 48 minutes I think they probably could have trimmed some, but it was very enjoyable throughout and I can't really think what they could have cut. Also I don't think they should have let Blue Ivy perform, she wasn't ready and that's an insanely big stage to put an unprepared kid on at that age.
Also this was my first time at the Alamo, didn't love it. Churro popcorn was good but it was annoying having someone running back and forth in front of you the whole time.

The back and forth thing is a little annoying at times but I feel like maybe my local one does a decent job of staying out of the way because it's never bothered me too much.
I've also had a string of bad luck of terrible audiences in regular theaters lately. Some old dude during Killers of the Flower Moon not only had his cell phone ringer on but audibly answered a phone call during the movie.

I generally only go to Alamo. I really thought at first the servers would be annoying but I think since it's an expected and ignorable interruption it doesn't bother me. The last couple of times I've been sitting near people crunching their ice and that's been a bit annoying.

I can't remember the last time I was at a movie where someone wasn't talking or on their phone. Such a vibe killer. Dude was recording the action scenes on his phone and texting them to people during Godzilla Minus One yesterday (good film).

I've found I've had the least issues with movie morons recently at River East 21 because I think theres a certain amount of commitment level to get down there. new heated recliners and screens very nice too

I went there (the Alamo) like right when it opened cause I never went in its hayday, and thought it was fine, and went again a couple weeks ago cause I had a free popcorn coupon to use and it was still fine. I dunno I feel like they don't do anything other theatres in Chicago don't already do, including having people distract me from watching the goddamn film I went out in public and paid for to see.
I watched May December on Friday and thought it was astoundingly hilarious and good, maybe even great. Everyone in the cast committed to this one and it's the only way it worked- soundtrack was great, the visuals were great, sound should've probably been higher but I'm deaf as shit so that might be on me but that whole thing falls apart with one bad casting choice.

Heated recliners?! There’s no way I don’t fall asleep in a heated recliner in a dark room I don’t care what’s going on on screen. Bad idea.

I don’t know about other Alamos, but at the one we go to in Brooklyn, people are surprisingly well-behaved. Same for the Nitehawk, which is like Alamo, except walking distance from our home.

I can't remember the last time I was at a movie where someone wasn't talking or on their phone. Such a vibe killer. Dude was recording the action scenes on his phone and texting them to people during Godzilla Minus One yesterday (good film). I went to see Eyes Wide Shut at a theater on Friday and when Tom's cell rings as he's about to hook up with the sex worker an old guy in the audience yelled "TURN OFF YOUR PHONE." A bunch of people laughed (I'm guessing some nervously because it was awkward, others who thought the guy was making a joke.) But the phone kept ringing in the movie so the old guy leaned close to the person in front of him and shouted "TURN. OFF. YOUR. GODDAMN. PHONE." The person he targeted was clearly annoyed but handled it better than many would have. Later on the old guy looked at his own very bright phone a bunch of times. Hope he's doin all right!

Thanksgiving is easily the best thing Eli Roth has done (directing wise). A new holiday favorite.
