Didn't see this mentioned earlier but Xenoblade Chronicles 2.... holy fuck. First, I can't believe it's actually coming out this year. Second, it looks phenomenal. My second most anticipated Nintendo game after Mario (that's been detailed at least). Also, IT HAS A CATGIRL!!! Gosh am I pumped for this game.

I read about Switch users having issues with one of the controllers connecting consistently when it first came out? Did anyone experience this? And if so, was it corrected with a firmware upgrade or a patch of some sort?

They fixed that. It was a hardware thing. If you buy one now it's fixed. You can send in your joycon and get a new one overnight if you have a defective one.

The issue was that if there was something blocking the line-of-sight between the joy-con and the console it would disconnect. This is still a thing on both to an extent but perhaps it was a little sensitive on the left joy-con. I never sent mine in though because it's really not something I've remotely had a problem with.

Also worth noting that I've heavily favored the handheld mode outside of Arms lately. I pretty exclusively played Mario Kart 8 like that.

Nintendo basically built a small Mario Odyssey theme park in their booth this year, complete with a bunch of impressive new statues.

So I just learned that Nintendo NY has been doing demos of some of the E3 games (Mario and Fire Emblem Warriors included) since last Thursday and is continuing with it through the weekend. Contemplating going down today to try out at least Mario but also dreading the lines (they're gonna be impossible on the weekend so if I don't go today I can probably forget about it). Might do it, but then again, potentially a lot of waiting for a 10 minute demo of a game I'll have in 4 months.

I'd be sorely tempted just to see how sandboxy it really is. That said, it'd be at cross purposes with my trying to avoid most gameplay spoilers at this point.

I've admittedly seen a few videos of the two kingdoms that were being shown off at E3 and each of them was wildly different. The consensus has been that the kingdoms are all very big and detailed. I would definitely advise against it if you don't want to be spoiled, though. I'm not watching any more, already seen more than I'd like, enough to have an idea of the layout of two levels. FWIW I don't mind it when I'm playing it for myself, even if it's disconnected from the larger experience. Played the Zelda BotW demo twice before having the full game.

Yeah, I'm to the point where I never watch actual gameplay trailers for games I know I'm going to get. I've somehow managed to have incredibly little spoiled about BotW, aside from the Korok Seed quest reward.

I played 95% of Undertale but could never beat one of the last bosses cause I suck at bullet hell stuff I guess. Really frustrating.

(Worth nothing I definitely don't have a gaming computer, just a MacBook Pro...just didn't seem like a game that needed a lot to run smooth)

I didn't see any options for reserve or pre-order on Amazon. At least Nintendo is consistent, I guess.

Not Nintendo NY, they get stock daily, not that it helps you. Just keep checking, demand is high which ultimately is good because it means more support. This is why I wouldn't wait until the holidays personally.
