Fire Emblem Echoes is coming out in just over a week. Super excited to try it out, although I desperately wish it was coming to Switch instead/as well.

I saw a few of you are into Persona 5... I picked up Persona 4 for cheap and decided to give it a try. So far, it seems like it would be pretty great, but I'm having trouble getting into it. I think maybe because I'm way too hung up on how to best spend my free time within the game. Do these choices really matter that much in the long run?
Also, not a huge fan of random dungeons, but all the other aspects more than make up for it.

In P4, iirc, the choices you make really just feed into which Social Stats get built up. These don't have influence on the dungeon/shadow world stuff but do influence some of the social stuff you have access to - certain people (Social Links) need a certain level of a Stat to progress their relationship. A lot of it is for flavor/world-building, and can be very rewarding if you are actually enjoying the sim aspect of the game, but isn't immediately critical. Although as I'm sure you know higher Social Links make stronger Persona in the Velvet Room.
P5 actually does not have random dungeons, and also the Social Links have a more direct effect on the combat aspect - for instance, befriending a certain person will allow for better weapons to be customized, befriending another will open up more healing items, etc. If you like P4 but don't love it I'd still recommend giving P5 a shot.

Ok. I've been an Xbox guy for like 15 years. Wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing.

Thanks for this. It's pretty overwhelming at first getting into it. So many options and choices. I'll definitely stick with it for a bit.

If you like Metroidvania's at all, play Hollow Knight immediately. One of the best of the genre, ever.

In the search for a new Game of Thrones this is a pretty great choice.

No, that's fair, I totally get it. That's why I get a current gen console, I just can't be arsed to keep my computer up to specs, especially with only a laptop. That said, I think my big expense of 2018 will finally be building a PC.

Recently finished Final Fantasy XV. I liked the ending and I'm glad I did a bunch of the last quests all in one slug. There were way more side quests relative to the main story missions, so for a good majority of the game I had a hard time reminding myself who a lot of the characters were outside of the main party when I dove back into the story.

At this point DA:O has probably become UNDERrated but it is one of my faves of all time and you all should play it even though I'm sure it looks horrendous.

Friday the 13th comes out tomorrow. I'm on the fence about it right now. It's a kickstarter game, but everything I've seen so far looks like tons of fun. And it's only 40 bucks. It looks fun enough, but I too am super wary of Kickstarter games at this point. Right now I'm halfway through a New Game+ on Persona 5, but I'm feeling like I should take a break from it. Was considering Horizon or Nier Automata or Prey...

Started my xbox game pass trial yesterday cause I really wanted to play Mega Man 2. Damn that game is hard.
The game pass is awesome but I don't think I'll pay for it past the trial unless they get some awesome games. I might try to knock out Mad Max before I lose it, though.
