I've loved all the singles

I'm too scared to listen to it at the moment. Going for J. Cole to start the day off.

It's nothing amazing, but I don't hate it. It has some highlights and some low points and it's fairly laid back compared to her previous work.

This is pretty fantastic as to be expected. I hope that Lincoln Hall show doesn't sell out for a while but luckily their tour seems to land them at Coachella 2022 which I've committed to hotel wise at this point. ANYWAY this is probably the most accessible record Shabaka has put out so if you've ever wondered "hmm where do I start with this guy" you might as well jump in here. Ultimately I don't think this is better than "Your Queen is A Reptile" given how....profound(?) that album is and continues to be. But this album flows extremely well together and I imagine will be talked about more and more as the year goes on. I also listened to Iceage again and I feel confident that'll be in my top 10 this year when all is said and done.

These guys are out of the same scene as Pup and this is a quick hitter of an album that just goes for it on every song. Spotify related artists include Dirty Nil and Illuminati Hotties.

I found this one from Lincoln Hall's schedule and am really into it. Kind of similar to S. Carey or a little Bon Iver, but gets dancier. (Emmit Fenn - Far From Home)

If you did not watch the Perfume Genius livestream last September, it's now up on youtube for free. It was pretty fantastic.

Sour is excellent, and deservedly got a higher p4k score than Daddy's Home.

Lord Huron dropped a new one last week. They are both a band that I see significantly enough when browsing Hinge profiles as well as a band I have loosely followed since they dropped their debut in 2012. They actually were good at Coachella 2013! However, they have done the thing a lot of LA "indie" bands do where they have somehow gotten more popular and less interesting at the same time. It's a weird inverse. I would still probably check them out at a festival but I'm not putting this album on again.

Wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either! I also don't think this is meant to be listened to by anyone over the age of 23.

One of the few albums in recent memory that when you google it the first hit is not the Pitchfork review (I'm sure that'll change soon). Anyway this is weird and good even if I'm only a few tunes in.

Somehow just coming to this for the first time, and it's incredible. Was expecting more plunderphonics like Avalanches, but the folk samples throughout this are so lush and organic. "Tokyo" in particularly is a stunner. Circling back to this but I highly encourage you to give the ones before and after this a shot. Thought for Food is an all-timer and Lost and Safe was some highly formative college listening for me. If I wasn’t watching basketball and wrestling after I’d probably put it on right now.

The new Liz Phair album isn't great but at least there's nothing embarrassing on there like 'Everything to Me' or 'Rock Me'.
