When searching for an album image I came across a Rolling Stone writeup that claimed this might be the best GBV album since Alien Lanes. I simply do not have the time to deal with that level of cognitive dissonance. This is good not great- Sweating the Plague is still the high water mark of this run of the band, but there's some absolutely stellar tracks in here without a doubt. Does Bob have 3 hour performances left in him anymore? Time will tell

I turned it off after like 4 songs, it was boring.

I don't think I'd go that far but if you like Bob's Bangers more than you appreciate Bob's Ballads I feel that.

This is beautiful - much more of a nighttime listen, but it was wonderful early in the morning too.

Really like the new Royal Blood on the first listen. Based off the singles I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this. Great album

Yoooo this rips! I hadn't heard any singles beforehand, so I loved "Shelter Song" with the gospel touches, plus the Will The Circle... interpolation on High & Hurt (getting into cliche status, but covering that is the easiest way to get me to like your song). And "Dear Saint Cecilia" is one of the best rock songs of the year, IMO. That shit sounds like it belongs on Live and Dangerous. Fuck yeaaaaa

Feels like a departure from Beyondless a decent bit but I really really dig it. Lots of really great tracks, "Wider Powder Blue" really caught my ear on first listen

It feels like the logical next step for them. It doesn't top the last two for me but it's one of my favorites of the year.

Yeah definitely gonna play some tunes from that today. Doubt I'll do the whole show even though I got invited to an online listening party tonight (I did one last year for this one).

MF DOOM/Czarface was fun. I never knew much of DOOM's stuff outside of Madvillany and it's become clear I missed out.
New Iceage album was incredible. Anyone who asks where the good rock bands are anymore needs to pay better attention to our European neighbors. One time I bought a copy of New Brigade for $7 at the Reckless in the loop except they gave me the wrong album and I didn't discover it until a week later when I thought I was going to play that album. This was 2016 and I figured they would become one of those bands that we would all clap politely for when that video from Stereogum pops up at the end of every year. Then they put out Beyondless which I love more and more every time I put it on. I might like this better than that though, at least based on memories of first listen.
Listened also to the Stars Hallow album that came out. I can't remember if they ever played my tiny college town (maybe after I left) but if you're into Midwest emo you should probably take 25 minutes and give it a spin.

This is a real treat. I can't believe I listen to as much country as I do now, me from a decade ago would think I have awful taste.

Listened to Squid this morning, I regret not buying a ticket to their show here now. oh well.
New Iceage is great as everyone has said too.
To make up for that good music, I am next going to try to see how much of the new Weezer I can make it through

Somehow just coming to this for the first time, and it's incredible. Was expecting more plunderphonics like Avalanches, but the folk samples throughout this are so lush and organic. "Tokyo" in particularly is a stunner.

I'll let you know closer to the date if I can't go, but they're yours if I can't make it
