It looks very long. I should’ve put it on while I’m waiting for my dad to get surgery but still can’t make myself do it

I don't think the kids like hearing Model/Actriz during passing period, but you know what? I do this for me and not for them.

The new Hold Steady is a dud unfortunately. The Birdwatchers is the only track that really stood out at all on that one.
New Pornographers wasn't too exciting either. 2 or 3 songs on there weren't bad, but just not much to it either.

There's like 9 albums I saved today. That's a lot of albums!

Wednesday. Listen to it. Bye and stuff. "Chosen to Deserve" is the song of the year so far and it's not close.

My half-distracted first take on the Wednesday record is this band is really good at writing lyrics but not as good at writing melodies.
It's basically right in my sonic wheelhouse tho so I expect it to grow on me a lot in the coming week.

Yeah I don't think the Wednesday album is particularly Great, but it is good, and dij has the correct take on "Chosen to Deserve"
Rae Sremmurd, Blondshell, and Yaeji also released notable albums, I think in that order too

Possibly Hot Take: Ruston Kelly made a better divorce album than Kacey Musgraves.

Catching up on last week's releaes New Overcoats is fine, pretty much on par with their previous stuff. Nothing really stood out besides the singles they have already put out. Daughter was good, nothing has really changed with them since their last album, guess it's been like 7 years?? Yaeji is good, but no bangers like raingurl, but an enjoyable mostly chill listen.

My boygenius the record take is that this album could have been an email EP. A fair number of these tracks seemed more like B-sides from their respective solo artists that only tossed in a few harmonies to make them "full band" tracks (thinking here of Revolution 0, We're in Love, and Emily I'm Sorry [tho I like that one]). This could've been a killer 7-song release but instead it'll be something that I toss a couple tracks on my 2023 playlist from ($20, Not Strong Enough, Anti-Curse - Julien rocks!) and chiefly remember those singles as time goes by.

I listen to this album literally whenever I'm reminded of them (maybe once every 3-4 months), and every time I post it here and say something like "Damn, what a great album." Damn, what a great album.

Gotta say this household hadn’t stopped having this Miley album on repeat when we’re not in our own world with our headphones on.

Not an album, but I spent this morning listening to the top 10 songs on TV Girl's spotify page. I knew they were a band that got a massive TikTok bump, pretty sure they were nowhere near this popular before like 2020, right? Anyways, they're fine. Doing the sampling thing over breezy indie-pop affectations. I'm not even sure I like this, but I could see throwing a track or two on a summer/driving playlist. Which, I guess is the point of music these days.
Anyways, it made me wish that Jens Lekman had blown up on TikTok.

Never got around to this one last year but there's some really awesome tracks on it (Speeding 72, Rockstar). More bands that sound like Smashing Pumpkins, please! Spending the morning checking out some groups on the Coachella lineup that I'm unfamiliar with. Gonna try Destroy Boys and Los Bitchos next.

Also tried this with Tobe Nwigwe - so he's basically a Wholesome Rapper who makes impeccably pretty Youtube videos? Not bad, just very NPR / Planet Fitness-core in a way that doesn't strike a nerve with me.

One of my favorite records to break out when the weather gets nice. Would prolly rank inside my top 20 if we were re-doing the 2000s rankings don't @ me

I tried listening to that Kara Jackson album on Friday based on all the hype from some Chicago acts. That really did nothing for me though, didn't even finish the album.
