Reminds me a lot of Hot Rod Circuit circa 2002-2004.

Remember when that band was gonna be the next big thing and then wasn't?

Mammoth Grinder - Cosmic Crypt
They're opening for Nails on their upcoming tour. I don't like how the vocals sound like they were recorded in a cave. But, I like how the rest of the band sounds.

Back on my Bullshit again (btw I did a needlepoint of this cover a few months ago and am really happy with how it turned out. been trying to think of another album-art project to tackle next. my current leader is an outlined version of the mats' let it be)

An album that will change 0 peoples minds on Zach Bryan. Some great songs but absolutely a tad too long. American Nights is one of his absolute best songs, the John Moreland song is great too.
If he ever takes time off and comes back with a heaters only album it's gonna be nuts.

Props to Zach Bryan for writing his first hook but holy shit the drums are astoundingly bad on that track.

Big year for avant-jazz supergroups! Both of these are killer - leaning toward the Beings album as my favorite rn, but the other (SML, feat. Anna Butterss, Jeremiah Chiu, Josh Johnson) is gorgeous too.

That Moreland song is better than anything on his own album he put out this year. This is an AOTY contender

Been reading Kristin Hersh's Rat Girl this week and working through the Muses' discography. This one (their 1986 debut LP) tho, wow. That's a fuckin' heater - not quite as hooky as Real Ramona but waaay rawer, wrier, and arresting. However! It's like impossible to find digitally? Not on any streaming platforms, not even on iTunes. The cheapest used CDs on Discogs are like $30 and there are a few copies of LP represses for like $60+ shipping included. What gives? Might just do an old fashioned Youtube > MP3 rip just to get this thing in my collection. Any idea what the deal is here? All their other releases are widely available, fwiw.

This is an AOTY contender Yeah, this was good. Listened to some of Laufey's music this morning. She has a pleasant, smoky voice. I guess the kids are really into her, since she's playing at Lolla? It's surprising to me that they'd go for this, but good for her.
