the last one was probably more interesting than this but I wouldn't say it was particularly good
I have very much been into the Red Clay Strays album. It's maybe a tad overwrought but it's pretty listenable, some good hooks, some good playing as a band. They sold out the Ryman 3x already and their show at Joe's earlier this year was even more crowded than the Miguel featuring Teekohs 10 year reunion double bill from a few years back. I'd say they are already huge but I feel like they are only going to get bigger from here.

Listened to the new King Gizz and unfortunately it's one of their jammy ones, so I will not be going back to that one.
New albums by Raven Lenae and Mavi are both pretty good. Torres put out a short album with Fruit Bats, which is a bit better than the album she put out earlier this year, so that was good.

Ton of new stuff up for me today. Already listened to the new Pom Poko, Charly Bills and Maude Latour. Pretty happy with those three, still surprised Charly Bliss hasn't had a bigger breakthrough yet, maybe they'll do it with this album??
Also out today, new Tinashe, Horse Jumper of Love, Gel, DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ (out earlier this week but finally on streamers last night) and Post Malone

Funny they share a release date, because they feel like an extension of where Charly Bliss could have gone after Guppy if they wanted to get a little weirder. The new record seemed nice on first listen, but didn't grab me as much as Young Enough, let alone Guppy, at this stage. Gonna give it plenty of chances to grow on me though. Excited to check out the new Sabrina record! Bought it on Bandcamp last week but didn't get around to it with all the Phish goings-ons.

Still a tremendous record. Revisiting it in full this morning for the first time in a few months and it won me back over (I'd started to over-play a few of the singles in my 2024 playlist). First six songs especially hit super heavy in succession.

Another release day with a ton of good options Spirit of the Beehive is definitely interesting, going to take a few listens to figure where I stand on that one. The MSPAINT spot at the beginning doesn't fit well though Illuminati Hotties gets off to a little slow start, but is pretty good as usual after that. Also albums from Fontaines DC, Sabrina Carpenter, Magdalena Bay, and Kishi Bashi today

Both Fontaines DC and Spirit of the Beehive albums were good-great-heaters-etc. Ticketmaster really is pushing me to go to the Salt Shed show for Fontaines and I think I have to do that now. Also I listened to the Post Malone album and it was basically just this but with special guests. I feel like I'm getting punk'd with all the cultural capital this man has

Not to be an annoying Type of Guy, but the new Fontaines record just makes me want to listen to the "Hurricane Laughter / Winter in the Sun" Darklands single.

"Chicago At Night" is such a killer closing song on this album. I think I remember reading a comment where someone went "This is when Spoon became Spoon." and I have to agree. I really hope they play "Lines in the Suit" next month at Metro.
