KC mostly has chains - Minskys is the best of those and I found out recently each slice of their thin crust has only 17 carbs, which is far less than PJs or Pizza Hut. I'm surprisingly a big fan of Costco Pizza too, despite it being grossly unhealthy for any human being - dripping with grease. Don't have that too often.
Otherwise we've got Waldo Pizza, but they don't put enough sauce on it so it ends up super dry most of the time. They do offer a lot of different toppings you won't find anywhere else in town (crab alfredo anyone? real crab, not imitation). Pie Five is here too and they have a cauliflower crust that's actually pretty good.

If Union Squared is by the slice at this Dino Jr. show maybe ill cop a slice on the way out just to celebrate this thread but thats an example of a detroit slice that doesn't live up to the hype.

I walked over like 3 times after it "opened" and it was not open but I will make it there eventually.
I like Fat Chris's or whatever for detroit style but their toppings are of a low quality despite the price not reflecting that

I always ask for extra sauce too because it's delish

I get Jet's detroit style cuz its cheap as hell and always get a side of sauce for dipping cuz of all that detroit bread. a fan for sure, just not sure why it became the pizza du jour at the moment

STL: im an Imo's fan (go for the deluxe) but NY slices at Felix's in dogtown are the best in town imo.
KC: Joe's behind Kelly's in westport is great for late night hammered slices
CHI: partial to Lou's. i've had pequods and didnt think it was that great.

But the pizza was great! And I just now think I realized why it was so great.

I don't know that I would get Jet's again, it is more akin to a Rocky Rococo pan style imo
Longacre is like a less heavy Pequod's with better sauce
I HAVE A LOT OF OPINIONS ABOUT PIZZA

Lou's thin Art of Pizza's thick Spacca Napoli's everything /thread while i agree with art of pizza and spacca best chicago style tavern thin crust is Pat's Pizza in LP although its annoying because a serving size is a large pizza.

I love Lou's, but I'm sure it's mostly nostalgia based. That sausage they use is very very good, though.
I'm a sucker for any brick-oven pizza, too.

I get pizza every Thursday night because we have rotating food trucks at work and the Thursday one sucks. My coworker is vegetarian so for the past month we've gotten a medium hand-tossed (from Adriatico's in case anyone needs Columbus pizza recs) loaded with every veg EXCEPT olives, fuck olives, PLUS the wild-card move - extra sauce as a topping. After the pizza is baked they just put more sauce on top in tiny globs as if it was a topping. Sounds weird but it is great.
I like Detroit-style pizza but it isn't my favorite. Same with deep-dish. I live right by an 'artisinal' wood-fired place and that's something I'm very into but it is hard to go wrong with NY/hand-tossed normie 'za.

I have not been to Detroit as an adult but I will say the best Detroit style I've ever had is at Brown Dog in Telluride if for any reason anyone makes it out there
