My sister is actually going to be in Ljubjana for work starting Sunday. Do any of y'all (sick2b?) have recommendations that she should check out in her free time? I think she'll be there for like 3 weeks. That's a hell of a long time for such a small city that is really cute but literally take half a day to visit. So she should definitely contemplate day trips to the mountains and other nice areas of Slovenia.. and actually tagging at least a week (and if she can't, at least weekends) to nearby Croatia or Italy Thanks! I let her know. I know it wasn't her top choice of destinations to spend that long of a time, but it's what the client decided on. I do think there is some time planned for Croatia, so hopefully that's cool.

Cool... lovely corner of the world.. and yeah, Slovenia is so tiny that Italy and Croatia are literally 2 hours away each (or something like that)

Hey board
My gf says she wants to go to 'the beach' when we're in LA next month. I don't particularly care for the beach. Any of you guys know one or two LA beaches that wouldn't be crazy obnoxious/touristy?

Cool, yeah that looks great. It's kinda far from our AirBnb and we'll be Ubering everywhere, but that's just LA I suppose.

Venice Beach kinda sucks but same thing.
Venice itself is actually a really cool neighborhood, I liked it more than Santa Monica which had more homeless people than anywhere else I have ever been.

Hi I'm getting on the Iceland bandwagon in August because my uncle's getting married there for some reason
Will take any tips for Reykjavik. Also would love suggestions for nature stuff that's not too too far from the city. Hard to decide what I should prioritize from Google Images

Rent a car if you can. It's absolutely worth the drive to go up to the peninsula north of Reyjavik.

Otherwise go to Baejarins Beztu Pylsur for one of the best hot dogs you'll ever have, go to The Laundromat Cafe for a great breakfast and go to The Grill Market for a fancy dinner.

Most of the big sightseeing things (Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Þingvellir, the black sand beach at Vik, Eyjafjallajökull, Strokkur) are within a few hours' drive of Reykjavik. Of those I liked the south shore stuff best but it might be very different/overrun by tourists in August. Snaefellsness might be better then?
Get outside the city as much as you can. There isn't that much to do there.

Go to the big church in Reykjavik, Hallgrimskja. You can park in their lot for free and walk downtown, but go to the top of the church - it's a small fee - and you'll get a fantastic view of the city.
Also, if you're a coffee drinker, Reykjavik Roasters is a must. Some of the best I've ever had.

re: Iceland everyone said what I said.
Hot dogs are a must. I ate there every day because a. everything else in iceland was so expensive, i got fast food trying to be cheap and it was like $19 for a meal b. it was the tailend of my trip and after going all out in copenhagen and paris i kinda needed to watch it and c. they were delicious
i would do a walking tour too. reykjavik is a small city and a 2 hour walking tour knocks out all of it but more importantly you learn a lot about the culture, history, and people.
I did a Northern Lights thing which was cool. I did get to see them but it wasn't really what you'd expect, more like here's the sky and some of it is green. The best part was the stars though. Holy shit never seen so many stars, was even able to see the milky way. Not sure how good the visibility is when you'll be there though.

an icelandic wedding without at least 400 hot dogs is considered a dull affair

Looks like the France pavilion in Epcot is getting either a Ratatouille or BatB ride. Permits have been filed.

I didn't love the hot dogs. Oh wow. Lisa and I ended up going back a second time at the end of our trip because we liked it so much. There's a Lobster food truck that was right across the street that was pretty amazing, too. Not sure if that was a permanent thing or not.

My friend loved the hot dogs and would get them at the gas station or wherever else they had them, but they just weren't doing it for me really.
I wanted to try all the skyrs though.
