I can't believe we're stuck with Cody Parkey again next year. Brutal. I know the deal’s guaranteed but he missed 11 kicks this year. I’d be surprised if he’s back. The dead cap hit created by cutting him would make it very difficult to do so, while having to address other needs. It's possible, but even if they do they certainly wouldn't be able to sign an expensive FA (Gould).

To add insult to injury, Robbie Gould was in attendance as a fan last night

Seems like maybe the kick was ever-so-slightly tipped. But that was such an entertaining way to end the game after hitting the upright five times earlier in the season. And fate saved the best for last! The upright + crossbar combo!

Parkey is bad and that kick was garbage, but he isn't the reason they lost that game. He put up more points than anyone else on the team yesterday.

I'm not feeling particularly optimistic about next season. Maybe Trubisky will improve, but right now he seems like a mediocre QB who is fortunate to be on a team with a creative offensive-minded head coach. Likewise, defenses that are dominant like the Bears were this year almost always drop off the following year. Plus, they're likely to lose Fangio. If they need to rely more on Trubisky to win in 2019, it could be a rough year.

That was tough to watch, so heartbreaking. Hopefully next year will be great

I mostly feel bad for scoots (and Parkey). Had to be such an awful feeling actually being there.

Brutal end to the season, but I'm trying to be positive. This is a young team that should only get better, and our window should be open for several years. The future is bright.

I don't anticipate Mitch is ever going to be an top 5 NFL QB, but this was his first year in this offense and was ok with flashes of more. Typically players improve in year 2 of a new scheme.

You're right about it being a new offense and needing time to adjust. I hoped to see more from him this year; maybe everything will click next year.

That was real bad. I haven’t watched a single NFL game in like 3 years, but stuck it out at a brewpub. Kind of felt it coming, but I had a great beet salad. Were you at Old Irving? They have a great beet salad.

They have a great beet salad. I was! Ended up being there for like 3.5 hours. Had the wings of the week, fried zucchini cuz delicious and they were out of the roasted shishitos, and the beet salad. It was awesome. Also had an incredible cocktail that was Japanese whiskey, rhum agricole, sherry, and wood bitters, among too many other drinks. I feel miserable today, but it was all lovely.

We love that place and end up there a bit more than we should, probably. Most of the bartenders know us. Agree about that fried zucchini - it's stupid how good it is.

It really is. I hadn't been in a while either, but we should probably make an effort to get there more often. They had BA versions of their quad (Buffalo Trace) and imperial stout (Weller), which were both fantastic too.

Holy hell the odds that one kicker could hit the uprights 8 SEPARATE TIMES over the course of a season have to be astronomical. Not sure how he comes back from this. Tough to blame him after he scored 9 of our 15 points before that, though.
Area around us went quiet when the kick went up and you could hear the audible clang. Depressing. It was a long walk back to the car. Tough to shake the feeling that this was probably the best possible year for the Bears to surprise the hell out of everyone and make it the Super Bowl. NOLA is terrific, but I think the Bears match up well with them. Not sure they can replicate this next season.
Oh well, that was a fun ride.

Yeah, the Bears look like they might be real good for another season or three.

The Browns have promoted Freddie Kitchens (who sounds like a cartoon character) to their head coach position as well
