these takes suck and are impossible to back up and are stupid as hell. Every act on that list considers themself in some way a coutnry act except for like my morning jacket maybe

you can't submit a list with those unless you address them as folk.

Is it a hot take, a bad take, or a both take if I say I & love & you is the best Avett brothers album?

Is it a hot take, a bad take, or a both take if I say I & love & you is the best Avett brothers album? Its not a hot take because its their most popular album but its probably not a great take. Its definitely the best of the beginning of the end.

I have my top 100 chosen by now, just needs ordering. So none of these recs will make their way on, if they weren't already, but I can tell Goodson, teekoh, and rango's suggestions are gonna be useful for breaking out of musical ruts in the future. Thanks y'all

After going through roughly 300 albums (most I just skipped through a few songs and decided nah) I’m at 120. Gonna be hard to cut 20 of these.

Thanks to a v quiet day in the office, I have a list of 188 albums to pare down. Chances are, I will realize I forgot a whole bunch as I start reviewing. May take me all the way to the deadline to finish...

Glancing over the lists so far and I don’t think anyone has the Girls album in there? C’mon now.

I was never big on their stuff, but I liked their second album more. He hasn't done anything of quality since either so I've kinda forgotten about them.

Broken Dreams Club EP was great.
Father, Son, Holy Ghost is one of the best albums of the current decade.
His solo albums were all quality imo but forgettable.
His new band Curls is garbage

I gave Low a chance back in the day and never really clicked. Really glad I gave Things We Lost in the Fire another chance.

It's been a few years since I've seen them, but Low are a very good live band. Pulp was the resident Low expert and would have all sorts of hyperbolic stuff to say right now were he here.

Finally getting around to ordering my top 100 - I'm 2/3 done and will hopefully have it up today or tomorrow. Still have no idea how the top's gonna shake out tho, been ordering from the bottom-up.

Okay and my list is done! Going to post it in a minute, but I'm very happy with how it came out. I tried to be mindful of balancing the stuff that got me deeply into music around 2010-2011, with my current preferences. A handful of these records were unheard by me up to like a month ago, which I think is really cool. I appreciate all the recommendations and lists from other users here that I used for help/inspiration along the way.
I'll say one more thing - I had no idea what my #1 would be until I finally came down to my last four choices. That record has always been special to me, but I never really thought back on how much it continues to resonate and evolve as my life moves onward. If I were to make this list again in six months, who knows? It might not be up top. But for now, it felt like the right choice. God bless John Darnielle.

List posted.
Every album should be on Spotify except for Jay-Z and the two Boris albums.
Looks like I have 25 albums with women as the artist/a member of the band.
