Was there any actual proof ever that they had been booked other than random news sites reporting it? I didn’t see any credible sources saying they were playing.

You don't consider the Reader a credible source? They used to run Gossip Wolf who would inaccurately guess Pitchfork’s lineup every year and then they’d go and publish it even. I’m not sure why that “gossip” would be any less credible than a leaked email. It also seems unlikely considering nobody at the tribune had heard of it or any other headliner news. |

I don't know, maybe because they classified it as gossip?
The Tribune (specifically Kevin Williams) also indicated at one point they were getting ready to make an announcement, and then backed off. As far as I know, no one from the Tribune ever publicly refuted the Bauhaus leak.
