It’s 7:30 in the morning and it’s stupid that I’m doing my job where I’m jobbing. Nobody wants to be here. And I’m curious if it’s always been that way.
Designate if we’re talking high school or college here, but I’m curious what everyone’s earliest class was

High school I remember my day starting at 8:15-ish
College I don’t think I ever had a class before 10am, sometimes even later

I voted 8-9. High school might have started at 7:50 at one point but I can't remember.
I wish I could go back to that schedule now.

Are you asking what time my school was scheduled to start? Or what time I would show up?

High school I always opted for the 7 am start b/c my school had 6-7 hour periods. So by doing 7 am, I left at 2:15.
College it was all over the place.

I think we were supposed to be there by 7:50 in high school
In college I had some 8 a.m.s

If I can remember that far back, I think high school started roughly 8:15-ish
College I usually didn't start til after 9 since I could make my own schedule, but there may have been an 8 AM class at some point

8:30 for high school.
I refused to take a college course before 10. For the benefit of both my sleep, and attendance.

My high school started at 8am sharp but I also had a zero hour which was a class that started before the school day essentially. In my case it was choir but there were a small handful of classes available. This was a big deal because I went to a small high school (my graduating class was maybe 65 people).
College I had 8 am classes for my first two years. It was the only time my required math classes were available. Due to a bad professor and exams that covered material we hadn't covered that semester I dropped it the first time around (around 75% of students withdrew or failed that semester), the second semester I took it I had an extremely hard time showing up at 8 am and then paying attention afterwards. I would zone out and miss material. There was a similar rate of people withdrawing or failing it that semester (I was one of them and I cried for like a week about it), The last time I took the class I actually altered my sleep schedule, took the class seriously, did all of the suggested out of class work, and ended up passing with flying colors. I was thrilled that I wouldn't have to take another MWF 8 am class and then I went to register for the next semester and the required calculus class I had been trying to get into by taking this class met at 8 am Monday Wednesday Thursday Friday. I also did not do well then.
After all of that, I started my classes exclusively at 11 or later. Shortly after my next semester started, I got a job where I showed up at 8 am. I never can escape that.

I didn't live close to either my grade school or high school so I actually woke up earlier than I do now. College I'd stack my schedule so most of my classes fell between 10am and 2pm.

High school started at 7:45. In college, I usually had at least one 8 am class a semester because I scheduled my classes so I wouldn't have any on Fridays.

You went to Bradley, right? The only class I ever nearly failed was Calc 2, took it my first semester freshman year, and the average for the whole class about halfway through was about 40%. I would ask if it was the same teacher, but the guy was old as dirt back when I took the class in '92... Maybe someone is carrying on the torch for him.

Almost all of the math department is old morons but it was interestingly enough the young professors that fucked me up the first two times. They're all condescending jackasses though

I have no idea what time high school started but it was very early and I was always leaving the house with wet hair.
College I never had a class before 11 which was intentional. I had a few night classes and one (food science) that you could watch on public access so every Monday we'd get [redacted] and order a pizza and have a viewing party.

I was back into a corner schedule-wise one year in college and had to take Spanish at 8am MTuThF. Barely passed that class.
I'm sure I had some other 8am classes along the way, but that's the one that sticks with me. Best-ever schedule was the semester when I was able to schedule the bulk of my classes for Tu/Th with a few weekly seminars on Wednesday. Four day weekends every weekend for an entire semester ftmfw.
No idea when high school classes began, but there was one brutal year when I was on the swim team and we had practices starting at some ungodly hour of the morning.

Are you asking what time my school was scheduled to start? Or what time I would show up? did you have the option of showing up late in hs? i feel like it was pretty immediate grounds for disciplinary action if you were caught strolling in anywhere 4 or 5 minutes after the bell at ours. also i think ours was 8 am - 3 pm roughly.

Were 8am’s by choice or circumstance? Most freshmen ended up with an 8 a.m. by necessity. After that they became much easier to avoid.

Were 8am’s by choice or circumstance? i think freshman year was the only year in college i had to do some 8 am's pre-reqs. after that i was always able to find at least 9 am's.

The peak of my college career was my semester that was Monday-Wednesday and the only thing I had on Tuesdays was a night class. I had an online class in that time period too but it was insanely easy and work free

I was technically not "allowed" to show up late, but there were enough ways to game the system that I regularly did, especially during the 2nd half of HS.

i had a 7:30 calculus class (5 credit hours) my first semester in college. i decided majoring in beer was better, and when an exam got handed out midway through the semester, i looked at it for a good 5 minutes, realized i knew nothing, and took it back to the professor blank. he said "you realize you'll flunk my class, right?"
so that 7:30 class and my love of partying got me 5 hours of F, and i lost my 4-year scholarship because that took me down below a 2.75 gpa, which was all i needed to keep it. oof.

I have heard of these programs but based on the great beer my friends who homebrew in their free time make I can't imagine going to school for that
