my buddy just gave me 2 bottles of bcs for my early bday present v easy to find in good ole pekin, illinois, it seems. In general, the beer culture here has improved. If you haven't already, you should check out Rhodels while you're here(if you still are, or whenever). It's pretty great, and I think responsible for a lot of the improvements.

Just got back from Bitter Pops and picked up Robyn by Middle Brow and Begyle's Christmas Ale.
The latter tastes exactly like a slightly watered down Schlafly's Christmas.

Beer store by me still has like 25 cases of BCBS and 3 cases of Barleywine left. I picked up a single bottle of the BCBS and it was $12.99 is that normal? Bought 4 bottles from Costco (lulz) on Sunday for $8.99 each. Was amused to see the big pallet. Not #rare any longer.

Also, checked out the Fischman’s bottle shop on Saturday evening. Small, but nice selection, including a walk in cooler with mostly local 4/6 packs, and some large bottles. Saw both of the owners - they said the bar/restaurant should be ready in a couple of months. Gave 10% off for the local beers, which was nice.
Parking is a problem, but I really hope they do well. Good people.

Yeah, I wasn't looking for BCS but I stopped into Jewel on Saturday for some odds and ends and they had sooooo much of it. Only bought one.

Anyone here aging their BCBS beers or do you just drink them ASAP? I tried one of my BCBS 2016 beers, and it was well worth not touching for a year.

I've got 2012-15 in my basement right now. It's definitely worth sitting on them for a bit if you can.

I have like 8 from this year in my closet and I'm planning to age at least half of them at least a year. I have a 2016 still sitting from last year, and I grabbed two 2015's they had at the black Friday event I went to. Plan to try one of those soon

I drank one but will be saving the other ones. Still have 4x from 2012-2015 and one from 2016.

For those in Chicago who don't want to wait in lines at 5am, looks like Bottles & Cans is doing a raffle on Friday starting at 11am and announcing the winners at 6:30pm to purchase it.

Avery is no longer considered "craft" after a Spanish company purchased a stake of the brewery.

At least that company seems cool. It kinda feels like Duvel buying whatever stake they did in Boulevard.

Went to my local Jewel at 7am and got 3 bottles of CBS, five other people in line. I need to go to Jewel for these kinds of releases more often!

Tavour has worked out well so far. I've been able to get beers from breweries back east that don't distribute out to Denver as well as some tiny breweries in Oregon/Washington. Prices have been reasonable, too. Would recommend.

Two beer events this week! Christmas Beer Tasting at Bull & Bush Brewing tomorrow night (they apparently have cellar beers going back to the late 70s, so that'll be neat) and then the 2017 Genius Wizard Vintages & Variants Release Party at Ratio on Saturday.

I'm working on drinking down my IPA supply in anticipation of Dry January (and probably 2/3rds Dry February).

That Christmas Beer Tasting was one of the best beer events I've attended - too bad it's so early in the week, but I guess that keeps it from getting too out of hand. Here's some of the beers I was able to try:
Sierra Nevada Celebration 2011 Prairie Christmas Bomb! 2014 Jester King Boxer's Revenge 2017 Westvleteren 12 2012 Val-Dieu Grand Cru 2009 Bruery Bois 2013 Alaskan Smoked Porter 2015 Anchor Special Ale 2010 Fremont B-Bomb 2017 Dupont Avec Les Bon Voeux 2012 Avery The Reverend 2008 Cantillon Cuvee Saint-Gilloise 2015
All for around $35 (spent a little extra to get some of the Westy).
