Yeah apparently the Yanks are immediately flipping Long to Seattle for OF Josh Stowers.
Edit: Top of 4th, er, page.

It seems every year the controversial players drop in percentage when the full results are announced. Schilling deserves to be in based on his playing career, but he's such a giant douche I think he misses election again this year. Interesting, I wasn't aware of that trend - I'd tend to agree with you then. Also, yea. No argument re: fuck Curt Schilling.

New Hall of Famers are four guys that dominated the Sox during my youth. Moose, Halladay, Edgar, and Mariano Rivera.

And Mo is the first unanimous selection in history. Awesome.

Glad to see the ballot cleared a bit for next year. With Jeter the only surefire 1st ballot candidate arriving, I expect to see guys like Walker, Rolen, Helton, and Kent get longer looks from writers who squeezed them out for more deserving picks. I don't think Jeter ends up being the only BBWAA selection.

Ugh Bonds and Clemens probably have no chance. Also the Vizquel split is funny

Bonds/Clemens will be elected one day, but not by the BBWAA.

Wow those splits are crazy. I wonder why nearly everyone sees a fairly significant drop on private ballots? Are these mostly people who vote for fewer than 10 guys?

Everyone except Omar lol - he's definitely getting a "played the game the right way, metrics be damned" bump

Folks know they'll get grilled on public ballots, and it takes more effort now to defend a no vote opposed to yes, so staying private is easier/lazier than doing that if you're one of the no cheaters group.

There is no greater indictment of this sport than the fact that Harper/Machado have yet to be signed

Puig and Kemp are gone, so it's not that crowded. They probably need to pull off that Pederson trade to ensure Verdugo gets some at-bats.

CBA needs a major overhaul, but there's no reason why two 26 year old superstars entering what should be their prime are still FAs in late January.

Well Harper is represented by Boras, so that's a major reason he's still unsigned.

Once players start realizing their new value is what the analytics say and not what precedent says then you will see free agents moving faster. Until then we will see these slow markets. And then yes, the CBA will need to be adjusted accordingly so that players get paid more sooner in their careers.
