Maybe they figure they could sell more in school field trips than actual tickets for a night game?
Nice top of page for what will eventually have the Manny signing.

does anyone know why the april 8-10 rays/sox games are all 1pm start times? why would you schedule 3 1pm games on april weekdays? They do this early in the season because it's so damn cold at night. Edit: AVB already said this. And yes, no one will be there, but they need to get the games in.

Buster Olney reporting the White Sox have offered Machado $175M over 7 years. If that's true I understand his reluctance to jump at that.

Speculation is that he will attempt to re-engage with NYY (his supposed 1st choice) on a short term deal with a higher AAV.

At this point I'm trying to tune out Twitter because the reports are all over the place and I'm sure it's in the best interest of both camps to leak offers.

I can't help myself. Honestly I just want this to be over already, one way or another.

Ian Clarkin's offseason: DFA'd by Sox, claimed by Cubs. DFA'd by Cubs, claimed by Sox. DFA'd by Sox, claimed by Cubs.

There were several outlets reporting 8 years 250 million. Before Olney most of the reports of 7 years were affiliated with the White Sox in some way.

Weren't these schumcks the ones reporting 8 years-250 million originally? Two different ESPN writers (Passan & Olney) reported two different offers. I'm guessing they're both wrong.

Kind of funny to have negotiations play out over Twitter.
Sox Fest is going to be weird if Machado is still available.

They are just recreating the same bullpen as last year with Otto taking over the Robertson part. In those small AL East parks you need relievers that miss bats.

If they can get him for cheap, I'm good with that deal. Only two years of control and he can't hit for a decent average, so it'd be like getting an outfield version of Todd Frazier.

Yeah I'd love that deal. Assuming Eloy is decent, Pederson/Engel/Jimenez would be a good defensive outfield which should help our fly ball pitchers.

I assume Pederson would play center and some combo of Palka/Jay would play right with Engel coming off the bench.

Agreed - Engel is the odd man out in that outfield.

Yeah you guys are probably right. I look forward to the day when our outfield choices aren't replacement level players.

Prediction: Schilling either makes or misses this year by less than or equal to 2 votes. He's at 70.5% already and I'd guess the majority of people revealing ballots early on social media are younger voters who may be less inclined to vote for him than older voters. But that's just my mostly baseless conjecture so who knows.

It seems every year the controversial players drop in percentage when the full results are announced. Schilling deserves to be in based on his playing career, but he's such a giant douche I think he misses election again this year.

Fuck Curt Schilling. I'm normally all about only considering a player's career, but I'll make an exception with that asshole. I hope he's always two votes shy.

No argument there.
Reds completed the Sonny Gray trade & extension. He gets an additional 3/30. Yanks get 2B prospect Shed Long.

I think it's really the Yankees getting the 2019 Reds competitive balance pick with Shed Long being the throw in.
I do think that Sonny will have a good year and 3 for 30 is peanuts if he's healthy
