RE: Sunday Open Air - why the fuck is Slayer on the second stage right before Ozzy on the main? That would piss me off... Move around the audience so they: a) don't camp all day, b) pass by concessions Eh, except last year the food concessions all ran out by this time of the evening. The way this is set up, it is a total cluster because you have thousands of folks from the parking lot trying to enter the stadium via 2 staircases. The way this is scheduled anyone who sees all of Slayer misses a good portion of Ozzy. The schedule looks really wonky time wise, so maybe it is an error? 2+ hours to set up for Slayer?

I guess. Don't know why I am worried about it - will be at p4k that Sunday anyway.

oh come on it's a good time.
slayer on a side stage will be a bit wonky. their stage setup is big i'm sure but that weird delay between acts makes me wonder if there is/was someone else meant for a slot before them that fell off.
sucks that whores and norma are so early sunday. doubt we'll get in by then and will have a lot of time to kill until behemoth.
saturday is pretty much fucked unless we wanna go in just for metal church and pig destroyer (not opposed)
friday is perfect tho

this is what happens when you get rid of all your social media and only visit once a year

Pretty happy that my top 3 on Saturday - Pig Destroyer, Body Count and Clutch - are on the side stage, since I only have bowl tickets. I also love how the start and end times for each day of the fest are all different. Poor Aversed will be playing to only their friends at 11:15 on Sunday. Kiss playing until 11:20 also seems unusual for a Chicago area fest.

Strange lineup but I like it. Of course I have the kids that weekend.

Man, I want to love that Sound on Sound lineup.
My top six acts beat out ACL easily (YYYs, Grizzly Bear, Iggy, Shins, Japandroids, Cloud Nothings) but then there's a huge falloff to a group of acts I really only casually like and don't really listen to (Vince Staples, Washed Out, Real Estate, Hoops). The emo and metal acts are great bookings and all but I just don't listen to them. $210 is a lot for this.
Depending on the ACL schedule, I think I'll end up doing ACL and then 1-2 days of this if it shakes out right.

I'm really into the SOS lineup and I'd love to get back to Austin.

So, is YYY a one-off or signaling new music/tour?

Not sure about YYYs, though the SOS email says it's their first show since 2013.
They also say Electric Wizard is a U.S. exclusive, which doesn't mean that much since they've been over here a lot over the past 2-3 years.

Yeah, SOS turned out alot better than I expected. Plus like teekoh said I haven't been back to Austin in ages. $210 is pushing it though. Have to contemplate that one

yessssss, I haven't seen YYY since they headlined Lolla so I'm v interested. Last album didn't grab me but there's enough distance that I'd just be excited to see the band

For all those wanting to visit Austin and do SoS: Unless you are planning on extending the weekend by a day or two, you won't be spending any time in Austin for this fest.
It's best to think of it like Nashville and Bonnaroo.

I'd love a YYYs redemption for Mosquito soon, but I kind of liked the idea of a greatest hits set at SoS. Either way, as long as the new tunes are better than most of Mosquito.

They also say Electric Wizard is a U.S. exclusive, which doesn't mean that much since they've been over here a lot over the past 2-3 years. about as technically true as Psycho getting them last year as exclusive after they had just played everywhere the year before. metal fests like to stretch that definition a lot. i'm still pretty damn impressed at how they pulled some of those names off.

Lincoln Hall just announced two shows with King Gizzard on Septmeber 24 & 25 (Sunday & Monday). Cool, that means King Gizz probably plays Saturday of that Audiotree festival.

There are at least 2 dozen acts on that S o S lineup that I would be into. Camping, or a fleabag hotel, on the other hand, I am not into. :/

That's a solid lineup and if the fest was still in Austin I would consider it Hopefully we get a Yeah Yeah Yeahs show here
