I still haven't watched this season because the Comedy Central app is trash.

i thought an article i read said he almost ended it after the last season because he didn't know what more could be done with the concept.
the thing is the finale is a completely different beast from the show. it's not in the same format at all. you almost wish it had been something separate so the show could continue on with its concept. now it seems kind of small in comparison, though.

I agree this would be a fitting end. Nathan consistently surprises me with the high-concept eps so I can't claim the well's dry but I feel like 'Finding Frances' almost made explicit that he was running out. The episode heavily implied it, but apparently the closed captioning include an edited-out line where he makes it explicit that he was tired of doing the same thing for four years

Just started watching the first season of Slasher on Netflix. Really interesting, and gruesome as fuck.

Guys I really liked the first two episodes of The Punisher. Coming off of Iron Fist and Defenders helps for sure; this one just seems better produced, well-shot, and wel-acted. I'm sure there will be a bloody climax at the finale but so far they've downplayed the gun fetishism.

The Punisher is a pretty big step up from Defenders in all aspects. I was a little worried. I would say that it is heavy on exposition, light on actual punishing and probably a couple episodes too long. It's very good, though. The narrative works throughout for the most part. I got one more episode and there was literally only ONE plot hole-y thing that kinda bugged me. Definitely a top 3 Marvel series if not my favorite. That said, I read a lot more Punisher comics than Daredevil.
Also, Bernthal is perfection for this character.

The biggest problem with all of the MCU series, even the good ones, is that they stretch to fill 13 episodes. I guess that makes Defenders an even greater failure because it manages to be both shorter and bad. I'm three eps into Punisher and loving it but can already see how the plot is going to sag for at least half the runtime.

Also I agree Bernthal is amazing. Easily the best actor out of the 'heroes' - probably equal to D'onofrio and Tennant.

It does drag in bits, but I still liked it a bunch... It's probably 1.5 episodes too long. There seems to be a requirement with these shows to include a "fetch quest" episode or something we don't really need to see for a whole hour.

I finished Mindhunter last night. Really enjoyed it, made me want to read the book again. I hope it keeps going. Apparently the Park City, KS guy they showed in clips is Dennis Rader, the 'BTK Killer'.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel got picked up and new episodes are coming on the 29th. It's a look at the late fifties comedy and music scene in the Village as seen through the eyes of a perfectionist UWS Jewish-American princess. From the writer/director of Gilmore Girls so that kind of rapid fire dialogue. Lots of fun little Easter eggs from that era. You can watch the pilot for free on Amazon. Might be my new favorite show.

punisher has been good so far (better than defenders, iron fist, or daredevil s2, for whatever little that's worth)
the whole "everyone in this police precinct is a badass" shtick is already getting tired tho and im not even halfway through.

What schtick do you mean? I feel like Frank, Billy, Gunner, and Lewis are the only physically capable people in the show. The Homeland Security people and the Anvil mercs are kind of fodder...
I did finish it today and I would put it up there with DDs1 and JJ. Officially an underrated Marvel show.

to be fair the latest episode kinda does away with part of my judgment, but i was referring to how every cop/investigator is doing the "im the sexist badcop who keeps people in line! rawr!" thing like every 90s action movie in the first few episodes. it was pretty hammy.

finished E11 last night and yeah this is the best series they've had in a while. hopefully they dont botch the ending like they've done with almost every Marvel Netflix show so far.
i didn't realize how heavily this was gonna focus on PTSD and military trauma but they do a pretty good job with it and also using the alt right platform as commentary on terrorism is pretty great.
the one lulzy part was when Frank goes "HE SAID 'SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS.' HOW OFTEN DO YOU HEAR LATIN?" as he talks about his fellow Marines, whose code is literally fucking Semper Fi.

God what I wouldn't give for them to kick their fanbase right in the balls and do a 10-year timeskip. Have all the kids be Clerks-style aimless 20-something fuckheads. Replace these precious children with a bunch of Caleb Landry Joneses. Plus they'd be at the forefront of the inevitable 90s nostalgia wave.

I was way more into the idea of Stranger Things as a Fargo-like.

They could've at least had the courtesy to name the second season 'Less Strange Things.'

I came up with a million dollar idea for a web filter called "Filter Things" where everything about Stranger Things is filtered from every single website I use including things that don't necessarily contain the title but references like everything about how this asshole turned into a dad or whatever. I don't watch the show and the constant barrage of information about t makes me not want to watch it ever.
