I saw Smiling Friends trending on MAX so I ended up watching the entire series last night. What a fever dream of a show.

weird challenge on top chef this week: pleased with the outcome though, of who went home and who won. seems like they all screwed the pooch at least a little.

watch some garbage streamer like peacock get that. I think it was an NBC show so that would be the most likely place.

re: top chef honestly kind of surprised danny won, because it seemed like dan had more positive feedback in the meal. i feel like if he had done his tuna differently (better) he would have won. poor savannah biffed it with the pasta.

i watched Fallout last week. i played the game a little bit and enjoyed some references, but it didn't really click for me overall.
then i started Dark Matter last night and have enjoyed it. but i can't help but think so much of what they're getting at (so far) was handled better in Counterpart.

Finished The Americans today and it's truly an all time great. What a finish. I thought season 5 was a little weak (after a fantastic seasons 3 and 4, though 5 did have some incredible moments and good character development) but 6 made up for that in every way, absolutely stuck the landing. Gonna be thinking about that one for a while

The Fallout show was fantastic. I think it adapted the source material really well, and I prefer it over TLOU.

I also loved Fallout and would go as far as to say it's probably my favorite video game adaptation. Was really impressed with them coming up with an original story that still captured the games incredibly well

Gonna be thinking about that one for a while exactly how i felt too. S5 was too much slowburn and not enough plot-moving. but S6 was a great bounceback and i think it ended with an all-time finale.

First episode of season 3 of the bear is one of the stupidest episodes of tv ever made. every State Farm commercial interruption was a blessing.

My wife popped when that cover hit thanks to the timely English Beat show we saw earlier this month.
I didn't realize that NIN actually produced that track. Couldn't stop thinking the whole time that they should sue whoever made it.
The first episode wasn't high art or anything but I couldn't really look away the whole time. I enjoyed it. That I'll never see you again line was definitely cheesy as hell though.

Unsurprisingly I am kinda obsessed with the sweet lil acoustic Save It for Later. Here's a 2003 full band version, for balance.
Also can we spoiler tag pls? I want to be surprised by how much I hate the NIN song.

I could look almost anywhere but on the screen.
Has any show taken more seriously a character who has deserved it less than the main guy from the bear? 40 min montage episode of the "trauma" of young Sheldon.
The first season was serviceable mediocre rec-league television and now they have convinced themselves they can dunk.

Guess I was the only one who liked the Trent/Atticus song and thought it was very effectively used? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My daughter and I got through episode 6 last night. I thought it was fine, although there were definitely a few very clunky scenes between a couple of the actors when they were 1 on 1.

the bear being unwatchable is moving from "moderately hot take" to "generally accepted as fact" at least

Have you thought about watching MILF Manor or something? I feel like you’d get more enjoyment out of that than hate watching The Bear.

Pete Townshend also covered “Save It for Later” on a 1986 live album which how I first heard the song, I think.
I’ve been rewatching S1 and S2 of The Bear in preparation for A3 which I won’t be able to get to until this weekend. I pick up on some of the corniness, but I think the food pr0n and the genuine moments greatly outweigh the weaker moments.
More than anything, I think S2 does a nice job capturing what it’s like to work on a big project with a bunch of teammates who are all pushing towards a common goal. Even if the geography isn’t precisely right and some of the growth is unrealistically fast.
