I'm normally a Love Island UK watcher but I've heard Love Island US is better this year, can anyone confirm? Love Island UK is having a pretty mid-tier season so far, but Movie Night is just about to happen so Emma and I are excited. I've heard too that US is better this year, but I've yet to take that plunge. I'm mostly in it for the accents lol I'm about 20ish episodes into the current season Love Island USA and this is incredible television (seriously, give the producers an Emmy). It's been a few years since I've watched Love Island UK and understand how Casa Amor is the true relationship test but wowza.

aside from one enormous plot hole, i thought Dark Matter (on apple, not the syfy one) was really good. first season covered the entire source material, so not exactly sure where a S2 goes.

Already through the first season and change of Homicide.
-Three Men and Adena is still a perfect episode of television. -I had no idea John Waters had a cameo until this rewatch. -Really insane how well this holds up 30 years later. -I think some of the old school touches are kind of refreshing - the visual of red and black on the board is particularly great.
I don't know, just reinforces my opinion that this is the best television show to ever be shown on network television by a longshot.

I felt underwhelmed by the first few episodes but it really clicked for me with the fourth episode and beyond. I think I watched six or seven now. Apparently they gave it some sort of digital upgrade treatment for streaming? Looks fine. But the audio is rough. I’ve had to watch with captions. LOVE the cast. Holy shit I didn’t realize Melissa Leo and the guy who plays the editor from the final season of The Wire were in this. Outstanding.

I saw Smiling Friends trending on MAX so I ended up watching the entire series last night. What a fever dream of a show. Rewatched season 2 episode 5 of Smiling Friends, and I think this might be my favorite scene in the entire series. If you haven’t watched Smiling Friends, you’re missing out.

haven't watched TV with my husband in ages due to olympics, DNC and various travels - what's the good shit out there now? or is all the good stuff coming in the next few weeks with new fall programming?

Just got to the episode of Homicide with Robin Williams as the guest star. Holy shit that dude was an underrated actor.
EDIT: Oh dang, and the son was played by Jake Gyllenhaal. I had zero idea.

WNBA is going into the playoffs, there's tons of games to watch and the league is small so it's easy to get to know the teams/players.

Season 4 of Slow Horses just started. This was gonna be my reco, too. And I’ll second the WNBA reco as well. Ion has games every Friday night, Prime usually has a game or two on Thursday nights, then other games pop up on ESPN, CBS and NBATV. Probably gonna grab a single for tomorrow’s Storm/Liberty matchup before the American Aquarium show.

Anyone here watching Mr. Throwback? I've been seeing previews for it on Peacock and it looks funny.
We're watching Parks and Rec. Middle of season 4. Wife has never seen it, I watched the first 5 seasons. Leslie Knope is kind of insufferable at times.

It's closer to Skins or Euphoria then Succession honestly. It's been ok, I hear season 2 is better

slow week for bachelorette but hopefully some of you remembered to tune in Thoughts on the underwhelming finale?

I have many. I was in a foul/cynical mood already on Monday night apart from The Bachelorette.... But, ABC's decision to show Jenn's proposal -after- both insinuating that they wouldn't, and immediately after she's had to confront Devin for the first time since, and the decision to show her sobbing picture-in-picture throughout, legitimately disgusted me. They could've shown everything that they did, in a different order, and it wouldn't have been so needlessly cruel and devastating. She better have gotten paid an insane amount of money and been told that was going to happen. I felt gross when it was over and would've had no desire to continue watching the season if it hadn't been the finale.
That aside, I have room in me to find it hilarious that "I loved you in the secluded paradise vacation bubble and then I snapped back to reality, ope there goes gravity" shocks anyone, ever. I adore the delusion that anyone could be profoundly in love with someone they had to submit an application to meet and then hung out with a couple of times. I think Jenn is entitled to hurt / embarrassment over the way Devin ultimately treated her, but pretending some true love story was shattered is pure comedy.

I can't stress this enough but you all have to watch the latest season of Love Island USA on Peacock. I guarantee it will make up for the lackluster season of The Bachelorette.
