What do you drive? Do you like it? What funny car stories do you have?
My 2007 Saturn Vue is getting up there. Bout to hit 180,000 miles, engine light is on, and according to Kelly Blue Book it's worth a solid $700, so I've been eyeing some stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing. Since I drive 60 miles roundtrip for work don't really think a lease is an option. Really wish I could live without a car but oh well.

I drive a 2015 Toyota RAV4, and I have a 50 mile round trip commute. It’s one of the more reliable vehicles of its kind according to the consumer reports. It’s super comfortable and I prefer driving it to my wife’s corolla, though she gets the better mileage.
My funny car story is that this one drives really well and I have only driven very cheap vehicles up until then. My previous car was a 2001 Ford Focus hatchback and it would do this thing where if the air conditioning was on and you were stopped the car would shake and wheeze, almost like it was breathing. One time while on a hill it turned off which was startling. E told me to take her car to Cincinnati for homecoming fest and texted me super worried my car was gonna explode. Fun times.

I loved the Yaris that we wrecked in January. We haven't gotten a replacement yet, but I would absolutely get the 2019 version if it were coming out before the fall. We're strongly considering a Camry hybrid.

I’m pretty sure like 95% of the people at my old apartment building owned Camrys and it was very confusing to find E’s Corolla in the parking lot

I have a 2004 Honda Civic that I bought in...2004.
I use it 2-3 times per week, so I can't justify buying a new car. I have to get gas about once a quarter.

That would be so nice. I have to once a week and it sucks. Biggest thing I'm looking at is at least 25 mpg.

2002 Jeep Liberty. The transmission sucks so it’ll randomly turn off when you’d stop at lights and signs. Also the entire exhaust system/muffler fell off and dragged behind as I drove last year.

I don't have a car anymore because fuck paying for all that shit. Got rid of my Jetta a few years ago and didn't look back.

I've thought about ditching it the Civic altogether, but at this point the costs are minimal. It's paid off, and with pay per mile insurance, the upkeep is also next to nothing. The convenience of having it for grocery runs, monthly visits to the burbs for dinner with Mamma & Bubbe Pale Hose, and visits to Wisconsin to see my in laws make it worth it.

Not to mention the occasional concert trek out to Rosemont or...Tinley.

I bought a used Chevy Volt in Nov 2017, and it has been my favorite car ever. I could talk peoples’ ears off about it, the mileage really is fantastic. I’m averaging over 100 mpg since I bought it.
Thankfully my office has charging stations, and zi live within the battery range, so most days I don’t use any gas at all. The only problem for me is there aren’t many charging stations near the venues in the city that I can use, so that is when I use the most gas. There is one I can go to near Metro and Schubas, so I do use that any time I can.

I fuckin love driving, I'd probably go a little crazy if I went super long without doing it. I actually love having an hour long round trip commute.

I absolutely hate driving and when I lived in Chicago thought the CTA was the greatest thing ever. A part of me still does.

"Fanciest" car I tried to rent was a Mini Cooper when I was in San Francisco, and they wouldn't let me rent it because the minimum was three days and I only needed it for one. I ended up with a damn Jetta.

Also I love driving and I love my Crosstrek. How many people feel about sports cars, I feel about mid-size crossover vehicles. The crosstrek rules.

I have a 2009 Yaris with 112000 miles on it. It has given me very few problems. My previous car was a Chevy Prizm that I totalled at 134000 miles, less than 6 months after I had the clutch replaced. My Mom has a red 1991 Toyota MR2. Goes up to 160 mph. She kept it when it wouldn't drive as well b/c they don't make them anymore. It's just sitting in my parents' driveway, with the car cover on it. Not sure if it even drives anymore.

I go to a big car wash that offers something called "The Whole Thing" which is like a deluxe wash and then they do the interiors too, tire shine, clean all the mats, doors, windows, windshield, etc. It's a little less intensive than a full detailing but it's also only $30 which I think is extremely fair for how amazing my car feels when I get back in it.

I once went about 12 years without driving at all. i remember when i first met you and you told me you hadn't driven in ?? years and i was like wtf? who doesn't drive? but that's coming from someone who lives in a place where public transport is poop and the city is really sprawling and spread out so you kinda have to have a car to get around.

Yeah that was probably near the end of my streak. It's been about ten years since I broke it, I really enjoy driving now but still probably won't own a car anytime soon.

We did a full detail in my wife’s car due to a concentration of soda/smoothie based incidents and it was around $100, which still felt pretty worth it
