Yeah that was probably near the end of my streak. It's been about ten years since I broke it, I really enjoy driving now but still probably won't own a car anytime soon. Serious question, is driving a car like riding a bike? Or after a decade do you have to do some serious reconditioning? It's like riding a bike!

I go to a big car wash that offers something called "The Whole Thing" which is like a deluxe wash and then they do the interiors too, tire shine, clean all the mats, doors, windows, windshield, etc. It's a little less intensive than a full detailing but it's also only $30 which I think is extremely fair for how amazing my car feels when I get back in it. Oh wow that is so much less than I imagined it would be. Hmm. Definitely not a full-service detailing but this place does it just right for me. The look, feel, and smell of the car when they're done is so worth 30 bucks its not even a question

ive got a 2016 honda civic that love despite the recently stories ive shared about the winshield getting fucked twice this month i had a 2012 honda civic that i adored and as most people on here probably saw, it got crushed by a church that was being renovated and collapsed overnight had a 98 ford explorer before that which was great for moving in college but was honestly a death trap with terrible everything 95 chevy s10 (stick shift) before that which was a vehicle of circumstance that was never super great in any weather and didnt even have decent gas mileage for what it should have 94 ford ranger (stick shift) was my first car and to this day i miss it. it also was destroyed at night when someone fell asleep at the wheel and rammed into it while it was parked on the street

Miss that thing. Wish I was living in a place where having two vehicles wasn't a nightmare.

I found a 2019 new chevy spark at a dealership by me for under 10k which is absolutely insane to me. i'm sure at the end they pile on a bunch of fees and services and the low price tag is to just get people in the door. i hate salespeople.

i've had my nissan juke for 4 years and bought it for the stereo. true story. i mean, it's nice and all but the stereo put it over the top for me. rockford fosgate speakers and it kills. i blew out the subwoofer 2 years ago and warranty replaced it and the retail price on it was $666 \m/\m/

lol i am way too indecisive to do this but i liked the cruze more and i think it'll have better resale. same mpg but pricer. i really didn't want to buy a new car but the cruze is like the same price as camrys, altimas, and accords that are like 3 years old with 40,000 miles and i can't find any reason why. like there's a 2017 cruse that's only $200 less with 30,000 miles, wtf??? Reviews are good. There was a 2018 one that was like 10k more and i asked the dude why and he's like "oh it has side sensors and other features." like damn that much more for that? the one im looking at still has a rear view camera and all that, people really go that crazy for shit like that?

We have a 2012 Cruze that we're still happy with. We've put on about 75,000 miles in 7 years and there have been no major issues. Acceleration kinda blows but it's never really an issue.

My rental in Illinois last week was a brand-new Camry with <1000 miles on it. Nice ride.
About 5 years ago Mrs. Doso got a new job based in Queens and we decided to buy her a car since there was no good way to get to get there from here. It's a 2011 Mazda CX-9 and it now has about 80,000 miles on it. I'm generally not a fan of owning a big vehicle except for the times when we have to haul the three kids around. Those are the times when I'm thankful for it. It's kind of a pain in the ass to park but it's usually easy to find parking in our neighborhood. And of course the gas mileage sucks.
I've previously owned a 2001 Toyota Camry (which threw a rod on I-80 in Ohio), a Subaru Outback Sport (fun car, but too heavy w/ the AWD), a Honda Civic (best car ever), a Plymouth Reliant (shitbox) and a Chevy Caprice Classic (well... classic). I really try not to drive since the public transportation options are abundant, but sometimes the convenience wins out.

Got the Camry. Loved it. Dealership tried to pull a fast one on me with my apr but I showed them I had prequalified through someone they use a whole percentage point less than they quoted me and was able to get it down. They tried to push the warranty on me but it was 15% of the car's price so I passed on that. I still have 15,000 miles of the manufacturer's warranty.
Drove home at night through the city listening to Twin Shadow. Was great.

Voted for Lori Lightfoot/Deb Mell/Ameya Pawar. Took about 15 seconds and met Deb Mell again.
Kinda weird that the next election is the Dem primary which is less than a year away.

We got riddles in the work thread, Mediterranean food in the za thread, and now Chicago politics in the car thread. This board is not governed by rhyme or reason.

when I was getting my car registration here in florida for my black '09 honda fit, a DMV worker mistakenly marked it down as a blue car, and then another DMV worker who had not seen the car tried to convince me that it was in fact blue so that she didn't have to redo the document. a little story for everyone that I just remembered, have a nice day everybody

I drive a Jeep Wrangler which I love, even though there are a few negatives. Not really a fan of any of the other Jeep models though.

I never got worse gas mileage than in a Jeep Liberty. So many things also stopped working; one of the power windows, one of the power locks, the air conditioner motor went out, etc.
Would not recommend Jeep.
