that song is a straight up banger and i unironically love it and have occasionally put it on purposely just to hear, in the year of our lord 2019
#heymacarena
If it was never associated with a stupid dance it would have such a better reputation

Live albums are ok? Live as in "performed in concert" and not as in the Throwing Copper sense.

yeah where are we on Unplugged sessions like AIC and Nirvana? Those are classics, but nothing original.

They are compilations of previously released material and they are invalid. Most live albums are effectively "greatest hits" collections regardless of how the material is performed.

I really just want to nominate Operation Livecrime just so I don't need to use Empire as my Queensryche vote. Ugh.

What if I put together a list of my favorite songs, as someone who was born in the mid-90s? Would that count?

I didn't even mention Promised Land because it was when they veered off into quasi contemporary adult pop prog, but it's a great album. Bridge is a tearjerker.

goddamnit Slaughter's "Stick It To Ya" came out in '89 my regrets are compounding by the minute in this thread Skid Row self titled as well. But two positive notes on that . 1. Sebastian is performing s/t in full in his upcoming tour (of neighborhood sports bars) 2. Slave to the Grind is eligible and is probably almost as good. A little heavier but not as many of the Skid Row power ballads that you can set your watch to

They're organized as inefficiently as possible as well, in their original cases in CD towers which are also from the 90s.

My very first CD tower was shaped like a T-Rex.

Napster was the end of me purchasing CDs. The last CD I ever bought was Enema of the State, somewhat ironically.

I remember looking through my dad's (mostly tastefully curated) record collection as a kid and looking at the Stevie Wonder and Who records and wondered how I was going to explain CDs like Nasty As They Want To Be and We Can't Be Stopped in my collection to my kids one day.
Luckily.... A) Kids don't even know what CDs are B) There is no need to use CDs anymore so they all sit in a box in my attic C) Anything bad in the world is already on YouTube D) Those albums are still awesome

My several hundred CDs sit in a few boxes in the same basement closet where we keep our Christmas decorations. Every December, I see them and think "I really should go through these sometime."

C) Anything bad in the world is already on YouTube As someone who came up in the "video mixtape" scene of the eighties and nineties, and who is well-known for saying things like "You have to see this, it's fucking terrible," I lament this. In a world where everything is cataloged and archived and at your fingertips, it's getting harder and harder to find good trash.
