Thus, I think it’s more in line with that than David Byrne, Michael Stipe, Thom Yorke. If it’s still a thing, I’m going with Rick Astley, Huey Lewis, or Toto. we are 15 months away from this festival and we're already setting ourselves up for disappointment. huzzah!

also i'm actually pretty excited to see the Sounds on the lineup. was super into them back when that scene was the thing.
also also i know the lineup doesnt say it yet but im still pretty sure Coheed is gonna be playing No World For Tomorrow since that whole album set tour was pushed to next year as well

No one really ever needs to buy a ticket to this festival. This is the only time I’d say if people were going specifically to see MCR, they may want to buy that single day. But otherwise yeah.

Thank you to our friends at Riot Fest who lurk over us for letting us do our thing in these trying times. Book GbV again I missed them last time

Can confirm GbV were extremely good though I had never seen them before so I don't know how it held up to other shows

I know a lot of people who bought three day passes just for MCR who have never been to a festival before, and they're selling out multiple nights in arenas even in smaller markets than Chicago. I don't recall there being tons of one days available for the Blink day last year and I imagine this will be bigger. Just a hunch, I've been wrong before

There is nothing scientific about this but while I had more extras than I could give away for Saturday and Sunday last year, I did not have extras for Friday (Blink). I wouldn't plan on the mass Do312 giveaways for the MCR day, that day is gonna move tickets.

into this initial lineup.
my friend and I have discussed doing a fancy Riot Fest and doing deluxe tickets one year. This might be it after the 2020 festival season cancellations

Spent my commute listening to some of the bands on this lineup I haven’t listened to since high school and I’m getting incredibly hyped for this. Bought a ticket last night. Catch me on MCR day when I’ll be applying eyeliner to every single boarder I encounter.

I'm curious how much of the lineup was booked for 2020 and rolled into 2021. I imagine that applies vast majority of what was revealed in this initial wave, with RTJ being the most obvious exception.

Agree about RTJ. I’d assume they could have sprinkled in some regulars like New Found Glory, Bayside, Mayday Parade, Dirty Heads to fill in any missing gaps from acts that weren’t ready to recommit to next year (or can’t). I could also see Thursday having been booked next year for an album set (Full Collapse 20 years). Maybe Saves the Day (Stay What You Are 20 years)?

Reminder that tomorrow is the purchase cutoff to get into the preview party (until they inevitably sell tickets to it separately, I'm sure).

A couple of friends and I are considering blowing some of our saved up 2020 concert budget on Deluxe passes, mostly on account of the front stage viewing areas and the open bar.
Has anyone done that before and would you recommend it? It sounds like a pretty great value compared to other fests, though I understand cheap/free GA tickets are often available if you wait until just before the festival (this would be our first Riot Fest).

Per their FAQ you can buy an upgraded ticket and email them with the receipts and they'll refund you for the regular pass.
