In what feels like the blink of an eye, I'm back at the airport again.
Great weekend though...we should do it again sometime...just hopefully not in consecutive weekends again cuz I'm realizing now that that was a lot.

Glad I finally made it to my first Riot Fest, even if it was only one day. That was a blast. And great seeing some of you folks again!

If you missed 3OH!3 you missed both the set of the weekend really did not like: kennyhoopla did not like: 3oh3, four year strong disappointing because I hoped they'd be better: state champs, knuckle puck, just friends, the bronx (although mariachi el bronx is excellent) okay: thursday, facs, joyce manor, llamas, bleached, big freedia excellent: patti smith, hepcat, gories, body count, mother mother, best coast, spider, man on man |

The main thing I disliked about Kenny's set was that his hype man wasted 10 min of his time slot playing songs on his computer.. I can cut him some slack for being winded the whole time because he was going hard as hell at the hottest part of what felt like the hottest day.

The main thing I disliked about Kenny's set was that his hype man wasted 10 min of his time slot playing songs on his computer.. I can cut him some slack for being winded the whole time because he was going hard as hell at the hottest part of what felt like the hottest day. He doesn't have that much music, so I can forgive the hypeman thing...my issue was the sound and the shaky vocals in the first half...I feel like he rebounded and the set got better as it went along. |

I wasn't close enough to see, but did he even have stage monitors? It didn't look like he had anything in-ear. I mean, I guess since he was just singing to a track he could probably hear just fine either way, but man...that was pitchy as hell throughout.

this fest was awesome. good bumpin' into the few of you i saw this weekend. hot as hell on Sunday. did anyone else think that Roots stage had sound issues? I feel like the mix was off. Maybe I wasn't standing close enough? but i feel like for even how far back I was it shouldn't have been that bad. the only sets I had sound issues with were needing louder vocals for Alkaline Trio, Rise against and Flaming Lips (and I was pretty close for the Lips) but I didn't seem to notice an issue on that stage for other acts I saw on that stage |

I noticed the sound was very dependant on where you were.. we tried to get up close by the riot mall for FLips, and it was super quiet, so we walked out further towards the middle much further back and it was 10x louder. They had no problem drowning out the stage by the baseball diamond with the other main stage though. Taking back Sunday was unlistenable unless you were close as fuck. All we could hear was run the jewels

I'm still sort of blown away by the five-day weekend. Headliner sets from Morrissey, the Smashing Pumpkins, Run the Jewels, Slipknot and Metallica.
Yeah, that was good.
