If it is crowded, do what munki did and take the train going away from downtown to the stop past Kimble, then get on the next inbound train and you'll be fine

Riding the pink line to Central Park on the 54/Cermak train and then hopping on the Loop train there worked well. The train still gets packed down the line, but you get to get on right away and sit down. I left the fest around 9:40, and got back to west loop by 10:30. I did like that they were yelling over the intercom for people not to push their way on to the trains because there was more trains right behind this one, but were they actually running addl trains last night? This is exactly what we did, sounds like we might have been on the same train even, lol

Like imagine having 18 months to figure this out logistically and just….not doing it It's par for the course for Riotfest Most disorganized fest Least corporate fest, so maybe give them a break. Also Cta has a been a mess during COVID,so…

Also Cta has a been a mess during COVID,so… I don't think it's too much to ask for a festival to have more than one entrance and exit, working atms or drink vendors that that take credit cards in 2021. Pitchfork is an independent festival and they don't have those kind of issues.

I don’t know that I’d consider a Condé Nast subsidiary independent.

But I would consider Riot Fest’s logistics to be lacking for its size.

Pitchfork is an independent festival and they don't have those kind of issues. I get the feeling this one is beyond their control with multiple hospitals surrounding the park that complained loudly when they had the entrance in a different location. It's this. The secondary entrance off California was amazing that first year in Douglas. Two minute walk to the Pink Line. I know other people experienced problems but I was able to pay with a card for my drinks all day on Friday. I also didn't run into long lines when trying to enter, fill water, get beer, or use the bathroom. The food vendor lines continue to be an issue, but other than that I think they're doing the best they can logistically. They also give away a boatload of tickets every year. I'm pretty sure at this point most boarders go for free (I haven't paid since 2014), so I agree they deserve some slack.

The water line occasionally got (very) long but it moved pretty quickly. I do think having only one location for water is a bad move. I think the same is true for food (ignoring the carnival food vendors on the west side of the park). I also think a truck load of picnic tables would be really helpful.
I wasn't there for the end of the night but the new layout seemed to work much better during the day even though it is worse from a convenience standpoint.
And I got the opportunity to park on Albany just to the west of the park today and it was fucking glorious. Less than a 1/4 mile from entrance to climate controlled car.

I'm still really not happy about them splitting the main two stages. I'll chalk it up to them trying to keep people moving around instead of staying in one spot due to COVID. I really hope they go back to the old format.
But yeah, I never had to wait for a bathroom, the water line was extremely fast even with a ton of people in lines, and I definitely enjoyed the Beam and Monaco booths.
Probably the only way to fix the food lines is to add more options around the park. Get rid of the carnival games and put them there.

But I would consider Riot Fest’s logistics to be lacking for its size. Well... Considering on Tuesday, I tweeted the festival, Metra, and specifically the BNSF twitter accounts to ask them if thy were adding extra trains and making sure the train actually stopped at western for the festival and was told NO, Just to have Meta tweet me back on Wednesday at 4pm that they WERE in fact adding the extra train service they've added since the festival moved to Douglass Park... I'm going say yes, the logistics could be a little better

had a great time yesterday. The highlight was the amount of free alcohol I was able to finesse. Flaming Lips honestly were pretty good! Devo and Slipknot both sick too. Best value for food, like every year, goes to the polish plate at dumpling house. Good to see everyone.

If you missed 3OH!3 you missed both the set of the weekend and also me knowing all the words. Glad ten15 was there with me and also was still willing to talk to me afterwards. I left after Devo because I wanted to go home and I work today but a great time all around
