All things considered with MLB moves to reduce the draft to 5-rounds and their decimation of the minor league system after not paying them fairly for years, I'm not sure how anyone could still be pro-owner/league.
They had a golden opportunity to bring in some new fans being the only game in town and now there's a pretty solid chance these negotiations have screwed up any chance the two sides will reach an agreement to prevent a lockout. Just baffling how badly this has been screwed up.

Last week I was incredibly optimistic there would be a season. We even set a draft date for our fantasy league. After today I think there's like a 15% chance there's baseball this year we drafted the weekend before spring training was shut down. like a month ago there was a run of auctioning off players who'd be out all 2020 for injury. we picked up chris sale for as cheap as the rules allowed.

It feels like the owners are not negotiating in good faith, and there is so much ill will built up already after the last several off-seasons. This sucks.

Actually seen multiple references to Miller or Hader as a ceiling, so there's definitely an in-between.

Jealous of the Cubs for the first time in my life. Love Ed Howard

Sox landing Jared Kelley is probably the most excited I've been about a draft pick.

Owners just submitted a proposal for 72 games that pays players basically the same amount of money as a 50 game schedule at their full prorated schedules.
Fuck the owners.

It seems like we're inevitably heading towards a 50 game season, the owners are just wasting time with these BS offers that all contain essentially the same money for the players. This sucks.

Long Gone Summer was entertaining, but there was nothing really revelatory within the entire two hours. I do think Sammy and the Cubs should find a way to bury the hatchet already, he deserves a place in Cubs history.

Agreed on all counts. I expected a lot better. I was at the Wrigley 100th anniversary game and it made no sense that he wasn’t involved.

Interesting that only Sox fans on the board are saying that Sammy should be part of the Cubs organization. Hmmm....

Ha, if he had done what he had done in a Sox uni I would be saying its time to bring him back into the fold as well. I'm not saying the Cubs need to retire 21 or anything, but it's time to let go of the nastiness that happened at the end and embrace the good times IMO. Sammy did a lot for the Cubs, life is too short to hold grudges forever.

I'm as much a Cubs fan as I am a Sox fan, ftr. I think we've discussed it on here before, but I truly don't understand the animosity towards him from the organization.

I think that there is a bit of a difference of opinion depending on the age of the fan. Olds (like me) tend to be less accepting of the way things ended with the team as opposed to the PEDs. I am somewhat neutral regarding Sosa, tbh.

I think they should welcome him back, but obviously my tenure as a fan started well after everything.
My friend who got me into them brought a sign that said 'I LOVE U SAMMY SOSA' to every game she attended growing up. So, I think she's probably pro that too.
