Lindor and Carrasco for the Mets #9 and #10 prospects, Andres Gimenez - a 21-year old SS who debuted last year and did a pretty solid job, he's def the "centerpiece." And them Amed Rosario. This fucking sucks. I have no desire to root for or watch Cleveland next year. Fuck.

Sorry monastery, always sucks to lose homegrown stars.
It's crazy that not a single top FA has signed and it's January 7th. We knew this off-season would be even slower than the last few due to Covid, but this is crazy. I feel like there's almost no chance we don't see a labor stoppage of some sort after this season.

i think gimenez has a high floor and will turn into a pretty good player. even after a few seasons, i still can't figure out rosario.

damn, makin even more than he would have in arbitration. Right this is strange, unless some of the guarantee comes in the form of a second year option buyout. Otherwise why didn't the Nats just claim him on waivers?

Otherwise why didn't the Nats just claim him on waivers? when a player is non-tendered, they immediately become a free agent, i believe. so there would be no claiming on waivers. i think the real question is why the cubs didn't tender him a contract then trade him if he had more value than his arbitration salary. could have brought *something* back, presumably, if he wasn't being overpaid according to the market.

I keep reading about how every team could have claimed Brad Hand (and paid his $10M salary) before he was ultimately non tendered by Cleveland. Maybe that was a unique case though? Either way you are right, it seems the Cubs should have been able to get something back, even if it was just cash considerations or a low level prospect.

It sounds like LeMahieu is close to re-signing with the Yanks. That should hopefully start to break up the log jam near the top of the market, especially since spring training is only a month or so away.

Is it time to start the 2021 thread? I'd do it but I'd just do an angels in the outfield quote and y'all don't need that
