I had no idea the Black Album even existed. This is fucking terrific.

Per discogs, a copy of this is apparently sitting in a record store about 3 blocks from sprint center.
They have it listed for $38,000.

Come (1994)This is a weak collection of songs for me. I appear to be off on my timeline of when exactly he changed his name. It looks like the previous Love Symbol album is the first appearance of the sign he changed his name to, but he hadn't actually dropped "Prince" yet. This would be his final album as Prince for awhile, as evidenced by the morbid 1958-1993 dated on the cover. Can you imagine if Prince had suddenly died in 1993?
"Endorphinmachine," which appears later on The Gold Experience, was originally intended for Come.
I just can't get into anything here, it's all a big miss. I was somewhat dreading continuing after this, but there was some truly fantastic shit to follow.
The Gold Experience (1995)Big love here! Broken up by interludes (a page out of The 1975's book for sure), the segments of songs on this are actually great. I was shocked at how much I loved it considering the quality of the output alongside it.
Aforementioned "Endorphinmachine" is a highlight but its impossible to go wrong with "Pussy Control," "Shy," "Billy Jack Bitch," or my personal favorite - "Gold," which sounds like it was commissioned for a John Hughes movie.
I went record browsing today since my local shop is allowing 10 or less in the store. I ran into a Prince record called The Versace Experience which is mostly material from The Gold Experience, sometimes remixed or edited down. It doesn't look like The Gold Experience is really available on vinyl right now so I'm happy to have what I've got.
What's the use of money if you aint gonna break the mold?Chaos and Disorder (1996)
Uhh, chaos and disorder indeed. I owe myself another hour with this but it was not a very engaging listen on my first go-round. Ranks alongside Come as some weak output. You can really tell at this point that he needs a few years off - if Diamonds and Pearls > Love Symbol had led into Black Album > Gold Experience, we'd still be talking about hot streaks here. Instead its hot...something else.Emancipation (1996)I am admittedly not through this yet because it is three hours long but there are parts of it that are fine. I will do a more thorough assessment as I keep it on...but to be honest, I keep reverting back to Love Symbol and The Gold Experience this week. True staples of his '90s output.

I made a 90-minute mixtape back in the day of the best songs from Emancipation. Also, I think each of the CD's were exactly 60 minutes in length.

I also listened to the popular musician, Prince, today. I listened to the Black Album. And because I was still feeling funky I listened to the songs "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" and "Controversy" immediately thereafter

The prince show on youtube tonight is sick. I wonder if I have the bootleg. Just looking at the setlist it seems longer than the two hours and fifteen minutes allotted on the stream but maybe they rip through these covers like a medley and I just can't remember

Also it was just about eight years ago (Sept. 26) when the board saw Prince at the United Center

I took my mom to that show and we were about 6 rows away from the stage and it’s probably my favorite concert ever.

I wish there was a better video somewhere, I was shocked I was even able to find this. Oh man, I remember that so vividly! How she seemed twice as tall as him and bent over at the waist to be face to face when they were singing together. JENNYYYYYY My friend got some fancy presale tickets to the show before this one and paid a ton of money...I was so jealous until they announced this show and I think we bought at the box office for stupid cheap? We had better seats and a better setlist by far. That was the one and only time I saw Prince. I'd say I goofed, but it was pretty damn perfect.

Unfortunately I had a work virtual happy hour from 8-10 so I had it on in the background mostly but I will definitely watch again as soon as I can. "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" was one for the ages.
