Instead of complaining about the lack of new music shared, how about I put my money where my mouth is (tho not physical money b/c eek corona virus) and resurrect this thread from the old board. I was kinda surprised we didn't have one - we have the "albums you may have missed" but I don't think that counts.
My goal for this (and I'm making it sticky), is for us to have a safe haven to share new music. New Music as in the following:
- new bands, artists, rappers, instrumentalists, singer-songwriters, etc; can be local or national, or international - any genre, doesn't matter - post an example, none of this "hey guys you're lame if you haven't listened to 100 goats, but I won't post a song you have to go find them on your own b/c elitism" - Try to post stuff that isn't just new to you but new to everyone. If you've just discovered the National this really isn't the thread for you. - This is not the same as the XXXX Releases of Note thread. This is for discovering new stuff, not announcing a new album or EP or mixtape or visual album, or anything. I feel like that thread is for stuff we all know and are anticipating. - I feel like I'm over-complicating this.
Now have it, and share with us something new.

I'll start... P4k reviewed this last week, it was a nice surprise. I would imagine a lot of the board would be very into this, it's a mix of jazz and rap. Not sure if he has ever played in Chicago (not much info on his fb page), but i'm very interested in seeing him live.

i mentioned it in the best albums thread today but Deathmaze is this new band outta Belgium that takes new wave dancy beats and throws in crazy post metal riffs and gutteral screams (along with some clean vocals.)
it is very batshit in a way that i think some of the board will like.
definition of a Bandcamp Find, honestly

My brother sent me this. Some lads from Leeds across the pond. They remind me of early Parquet Courts mixed with the jangle of Rolling Blackouts. Song titles include "Coronation Chicken", "Poverty Pornography", and "Alternative Facts", among others. It's good. You should listen to this!

He's got vocals and delivery that remind me of Open Mike Eagle, but without the wordplay or pop culture references. His lyrics are far more poetic which I like. There were some cuts that I didn't love - I don't know if it's considered chiptune but IGOR was covered in it and I know it's on Blonde; not my favorite vocal manipulation but it doesn't tank the record or anything. Also one of the cuts was more trappy, which I'm kinda over, but again doesn't deter me from revisiting. Great find! I'll definitely be giving it some more play.

Definitely picking up on everything you're describing. I'd throw in that the clean vocals are reminiscent of Protomartyr - that kind of Nick Cave emulation, but coming from a closet. Not overly my type of music, but it was a fun listen. Keeping it in rotation!

I have also not seen him live, but I would say yes. His work as Milo and Scallops Hotel is really great across the board.

A couple of DePaul kids made a hardcore EP that slaps. Yes, they're named after the "Do the Right Thing" character. If you were into the Perfect Pussy or the *names band*, this is way harder than that. It makes you wanna punch a Nazi or something. You should listen to this!

Dunno how many of you have been following this band called Sorry. They've been releasing tracks here and there in preparation for an as of yet unannounced debut album this year. This tracks been getting a lot of spins by me.

theedwards.bandcamp.com/album/slow-fade-giddingsThese fellas have been figuring out their sound for the last year and have decided to release music way earlier than intended due to the events of the last 2 weeks. All the money they make are going to local businesses (Avondale where they're based). Beyond that, they have a lotta jangly sounds and like to jam. They're fun and good people and you should listen to this! *Disclaimer: 2 of my best friends play in this band so I am of course a biased hype boi

Finally got around to listening to the Cindy Lee album and am enjoying it a lot. Yesssss, at last a convert. It's equal parts 80s sci-fi/horror movie soundtrack, noise rock, and doo-wop. Love it. If you're feeling adventurous I suggest their last album Act of Tenderness. It's better imo.

I'm in a virtual class rn that devolved into a Q&A with a guest speaker so I got bored and pulled this playlist together. Some jamz from records that came out this year that I've had in constant rotation this and last week. Check it out and try a full record from someone you like! My faves of the smaller groups are Disq, Porridge Radio, and Empty Country, but all of these are worth your time. <3

This record is carrying me through today. Kaleidoscopic may be the best way to describe it - bits of psych, English folk, AmPrim, god knows what else. Basically Aquarium Drunkard-core. Mosses - T.V. Sun Check it out:

If you're enjoying stuff like Porridge Radio, Sorry should be right up your alley. Full album up on Spotify as of today. Been following them for a bit and it's one of my more anticipated releases of the day.
