soooo i've never been a podcast guy but after Spotify gained access to a lot of the big hitters, i recently got talked into it and am kinda obsessed with Last Podcast on the Left and My Favorite Murder.
surely unrelated, i now check every corner of the apartment before i go to bed every fucking night.

If you're looking for something new and fun/funny without being too heavy, Punch Up the Jam is really good. Two people who were vine famous invite a guest to explain why these dumb big songs are dumb and also big. The best part of it is that they do a reinterpretation/remix of the song every week at the end of the episode. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed them ripping apart "Welcome to the Jungle"

I love Adam Scott, but I gave up on that R.E.M. podcast after 15 very boring minutes.
Every time I see a new post in this thread, I'm hoping it's news about Serial S3. It has been almost two years since the conclusion of Serial S2; looks like S3 is supposed to be "early 2018".

i listened to the whole thing (never listened to the U2 one) and it was both hilarious and infuriating. in that they pretty much almost never talked about the band until the last 15 minutes and the rest of it was just a comedy bang bang sketch.
so i guess if you go in not actually expecting dialog about REM then you're fine.

Y'know I love UTU2TM but the REM one wasn't doing it for me. I feel like their schtick ran its course in the twenty-some U2 eps and it feels very forced right now.
I mean I'll still listen because what else am I doing with my life.

I loved the REM podcast in that it probably forced thousands of REM fans who weren't familiar with CBB to listen to nonsense for 90 minutes in order to get 15 minutes of discussion about the band.

Great that he'll finally have a fair trial, though I find it hard to imagine that the world of Serial and Undisclosed hasn't created some bias. I go back and forth pretty regularly on whether or not I thought he did it, but there are some fairly essential segments of the story that got left out on Serial. I miss Sarah Koenig's voice describing this story to me. Are they doing a 3rd season of the podcast? |

I mean I'll still listen because what else am I doing with my life. after the first ep or so they stop laying it on so thick, but even then I might have stopped listening were I not actually interested in learning a bit about REM. Always been a casual fan without much knowledge of their catalog so getting some snippets of songs while listening to two guys I generally find funny isn't so bad |
