I enjoyed it because it was Scott and Scott but it wasn't their best.
Non-comedy-wise, I finally listened to that S-Town bullshit. I was interested enough to get through every episode but the structure itself frustrated me. The first 2-3 episodes they kind of introduce a new premise/plot/objective fairly often and force cliffhanger endings. By episodes 5-6, it is a kind of aimless but listenable profile of the one guy. They do a lot of work to paint him as multi-faceted and brilliant and then the very last episode they jam such a neat little cap on the guy, it really rubbed me the wrong way. Can't say much more without spoiling basically the entire thing.

I was for a minute consuming as many political podcasts as I could but I'm starting to get to a breaking point of too much politics in my life.

I enjoyed it because it was Scott and Scott but it wasn't their best. Yeah, agreed with this. Amazing how describing the concert easily becomes the most boring part of the episode. Shame we won't be getting a Bonnaroo episode after all.

i very much enjoyed this week's WTF with randy newman. one of the things i found interesting was him saying he doesn't think he loves music as much as some peers because it's always felt like work. i don't know if i've ever read/heard a musician talk about that.

Shame we won't be getting a Bonnaroo episode after all. but also a lot of the bits just feel obligatory at this point. it worked when they were doing it weekly and they built on themselves and developed over time but now it feels like they're searching for opportunities to check off boxes. idk if i'll listen next time they drop an ep. maybe if they have a guest to mix things up

I really enjoyed Season 2 - seems like forever since I listened to it. Thanks for posting that piece about Bergdahl. The potential life sentence seems extreme.

Yeah I loved Season 2 and I think about it way more than Season 1.
Honestly I'd be surprised if Bergdahl serves any time at all. I have quite a few friends in the military and every single one of them has expressed something to the effect of "while his desertion is unforgivable, being held captive by the Taliban for years is punishment enough"

Everyone in my life is listening to My Favorite Murder out loud all the time and I kind of hate it. Am I a hypocrite for enjoying hyperviolent movies/tv/video games but being really rubbed the wrong way by this podcast? I've never been a True Crime guy to begin with so maybe I'm missing some level of it?

best unintentional bit is them talking about how huge a song sounds on headphones and than playing the intro extremely quietly in an extremely low quality

How all hardcore U2 fans want to sneak peek the record: with Scott and Scott talking over it.

All I listen to at this point is CBB and Hello from the Magic Tavern. Someday I'll start How Did This Get Made?.

I try to listen to The Daily every morning.
Outside of that my only guaranteed listens are CBB, This American Life, Still Processing, 538's Politics Podcast, Zach Lowe's ESPN podcast, and basically every NBA/Simmons related podcast on The Ringer.
I just finished Heavyweights too and that was terrific.

always: hollywood handbook judge john hodgman
usually: this american life (basically always unless it's a repeat from the last 5 years or so) comedy bang bang
occasionally: wtf 99% invisible the new yorker radio hour (actually have listened to it less frequently since they started breaking the episodes up into smaller chunks) planet money fresh air

Yes Hollywod Handbook is so good and funny and also nice.
I would say I listen to 80% of CBBs but sometimes I just look at the guest lineup and am like nah.
I've been meaning to get into actual intelligent podcasts but it hasn't happened yet.

I would say I listen to 80% of CBBs but sometimes I just look at the guest lineup and am like nah. Same. I've also gotten more comfortable ditching an ep midway through if I'm not feeling it. The eps are so long compared to other casts these days. Re: still processing -- i like the hosts but i spend so much time yakking about pop culture and reading articles yakking about pop culture that I don't really feel like adding it to my rotation
