There's alternative entry for that Smashing Pumpkins contest if you don't feel like chasing down the ice cream truck. You can enter here.

Read on Smashing Pumpkins Reddit that they are playing Montreal August 7th and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on July 20th.

If they are really trying to do arenas in every market then Billy is truly intoxicated with the madness

They were an arena band in their heyday. It's not that crazy for a first run of a reunion tour.

From what I recall the tour with Manson wasn't able to sell out the small sheds a couple of years ago, and that was with Jimmy. I just think the SP brand has already been dragged through the mud so much even before the shenanigans of this week.

Axl toured his version of GnR to death, and that didn't seem to have any sort of ill effect on the super hyped initial run of reunion dates.

they're gonna have 10 different pricing tiers and olds will drop $250 for floor seats and a poster then Billy will take his and D'arcy's cuts and James and Jimmy will each get their 22% and everyone will be happy except for D'arcy

I get that the SP promoters think this is a GNR situation, but I just don't see it. Axl still could sell out arenas when it was just him, and James Iha is no Slash.
This isn't adding up for me but I'll admit that the people at Livenation who are pouring money into this have more info than I do.

Speaking of Axl, I thought it was cool when Dave Grohl lent him the throne to tour with. I think Win Butler should lend Billy the tarp they used to cover all the empty seats in the upper level of their last tour.

I saw the Pumpkins many times back in the day, and I was never like "WHOA James just did the most amazing thing, I have to see them again just for him!" It's pretty much going to be the same as what they did at the Northerly Island show, with James doing his sloppy guitar part on "Mayonnaise"

I loved and still love the band - it was fantastic to see James back with them at the Opera House. But Billy has spent the last 10 years (or really 20) trying to diminish the impact and contributions of the other members and position himself as the sole driving force of the band. And it's flopped. The tours flopped. The albums flopped. He would reissue albums and go out of his way to marginalize the contributions of other members. I just can't fathom how this won't be a trainwreck, because I don't think Billy is capable of doing something without it turning into a trainwreck.

FWIW he was a much more mellow version of himself at the Athenaeum shows in October. There were several instances where audience members were being awful and I expected him to lash out or storm off stage, and he was able to keep his cool.

Y'all think we're gonna get Metro shows today or just the arena show announcements?

I think today will be the arena tour announcement. If they do anything at the Metro as a warm-up there will probably be very little lead up to it.
