For those of you who like to plan (way) ahead, Hilton has some properties available now, including one hotel that's predictably super pricey because it's pretty much next to the Parc del Forum.

And just to keep the good times rolling, I found a PDF link to the 2019 set times, and man I'm tired just looking at it.

I booked a hotel in Eixample. That's the neighborhood where I stayed in 2016. It's not super close to the venue, but it is close to all of the best Tapas spots which is higher priority for me lol.

On this note, have to give a HUGE rec to check out Wata Igarashi, their recorded stuff is fire, and their live show is one of the most overwhelming (in the best way possible) live electronic sets I've ever seen. Will be a must see for me Anyone you'd particularly recommend on the W1 lineup? I'm almost wholly unfamiliar w/ the electronic scene, but would love to check out an act or two each day, given how deep this lineup looks Some other acts that weren't mentioned that will put on fun sets are call super b2b shanti celeste, blawan, oscar mulero, ben ufo, fatima yamaha, and leon vynehall. Although some of those may be easier to see in the US if you're in a bigger city.

Is Barcelona pretty easy to get around? Like walkable and good public transit? I assume so but I've never been

Starting in on Massive Attack this week! What I knew going in: 1.) Something about trip-hop, not sure what this means besides being very 90s; 2.) Isn't Banksy in this band? ; 3.) Mezzanine has a bug lookin' thing on the cover Listened to Blue Lines today and liked, but not loved, it. Was surprised for some reason at how hip-hop focused this record was, despite the genre name lol. It was also extremely British, which is a marked change of pace from the NYC rap from this era that I usually gravitate towards. That said, I remember very few vocal parts after one listen. What stuck with me are the instrumentals. Especially "One Love" - holy shit, that song hit heavy. Reminded me of Anna Meredith especially. Loved the dancey sample-heavy production throughout. I feel like there's a lot of layers here that I may pick up on future listens. Cool stuff!

monasterymonochrome has never listened to Massive Attack before this moment? I feel like I've failed as an elder statesman of this board if so.

monasterymonochrome has never listened to Massive Attack before this moment? I feel like I've failed as an elder statesman of this board if so. You ever have bands that you know are Important and that People Like, but they fall just outside of your listening comfort zones such that you never actively check them out, but passively absorb information about them? Massive Attack and Portishead are my two biggest examples there.

Thoughts on buying tickets to see artists who’re on the Prima 2022 lineup? I’m torn on buying BC,NR tickets bc they’re on the lineup, but also there’s likely to be sooo many conflicts that seeing them is no guarantee? How do y’all feel about these situations?

The worst case is you see a cool band twice

The worst case is you see a cool band twice I guess I also want to factor in the opportunity cost of buying a ticket to see a Prima band over seeing another band not on the lineup, but maybe I’m overthinking this

There's going to be conflicts all over at Prima too, so factor that in to your decision.

I’m torn on buying BC,NR tickets bc they’re on the lineup, but also there’s likely to be sooo many conflicts that seeing them is no guarantee? How do y’all feel about these situations? i've gone to a few smaller shows in the months prior to primavera to see bands that were playing there, probably because i wanted to also see someone else on the bill. and i am sure i also purposely passed on bigger bands thinking that i didn't need to spend to see them if i was just going to see them anyway over there. on a cursory glance, it looks like the only bigger acts i've seen right before primavera were nick cave in 2013 (april in chicago, may at primavera) and beach house in 2016 (march in chicago, june at primavera).

This is all helpful - thanks!
I think I'm gonna go ahead and get the BC,NR tickets, under the assumption that - unless they're an expensive band or a band extremely high on my priorities list - I may not prioritize them in a Prima conflict.

The Smile added to the day that already had 5 headliners. I keep seeing acts that are in Europe during Primavera, no plans during one of the weekends and no shows currently booked in Spain, so I'm hoping we get some more smaller adds. The posters have about 15 less acts per day than usual, though most of what's missing is the electronic acts
I haven't bought my plane tickets yet, but it's pretty unlikely they ones I've been tracking are gonna get any cheaper, so I should probably just pull the trigger now
