i am as a rule pretty skeptical about taking the views expressed at a community meeting with a dozen people in attendance as meaningfully reflective of the attitudes of the larger community without more information to back that up, but it is pretty impressive how riot fest approached this as poorly as humanly possible i'm always astonished when an organization doing something this high profile is not even able to do the cynical bare minimum "we see you, we hear you, we'll take that into consideration" bullshit that gets trotted out there by anybody with a baseline level of competence But he was hired because he is really good at his job and he said that in "clear english" You forgot that he also has a photographic memory. |

I think earlier in the summer Block Club surveyed the local businesses near the fest site and the vast majority of them said they want the fest gone and it doesn't bring any additional revenue to them. This isn't a situation like with Lolla and even Pitchfork where the fest brings revenue into those neighborhoods. Riot Fest needs to find a new home after this year.

Riot Fest needs to find a new home after this year. i never thought there was much opportunity for that anyway. douglass park doesn't have a ton of eateries and bars within a short walk like humboldt park does. there's nothing on ogden. there are a couple places around the california pink line. most of the local businesses are out of the way for festgoers using normal transit routes. is it the businesses west on roosevelt? the ones down on cermak? |

Throw a couple of stages inside the stadium. Side stages and the Ferris wheel in the parking lots.

Shocked htere is no TBS show. I'll be trying for that Thursday show at Reggies, but Jimmy Eat WOrld at Metro is an excellent substitution.
I have another show at the Bottle Sunday night, so I have to miss Jeff Rosenstock unfortunately.
