If he's playing all the others I have a bad feeling he ends up at Lolla as well Unless Lolla got Kanye

Even with some lazy Lolla bookings in the past, I find it really hard to believe that they book Eminem to headline 3 times in 8 years. The Killers are the only other band (I know of) to have that kind of turnaround, and they only did it once, and it was only because The Weeknd pulled out.
I'm expecting Lolla to miss the Eminem train and have either Jay-Z or Kanye at number 1.

The thing is Eminem doesn't really tour outside of festivals and occasional stadium shows . It's pretty much a slam dunk from a buisness standpoint for a festival to continue to book him.

True, but does the Lolla demographic even care that much about Eminem anymore? This new album is by all accounts a disaster, and I don't know that 18-24 year olds care about him that much. Seems like a very expensive booking (though if he's doing all these festivals this year he can't be that expensive) for very little return from your key demographic.

No idea on his appeal to that demo, but Radiohead were #1 and are olds so I wouldn't focus on that too much when it comes to who will be #1

Yeah, probably the same for Sir Paul too. I'm probably just trying to convince myself that he isn't playing so I can be at least a little optimistic until the lineup drops.

Ya his rate definitely came down if he is playing Boston Calling

Boston Calling had some big headliners this year wth Mumford and Tool.

There seems to be conflicting #scoops If he's not on Roo's lineup I would feel better about his chances of not playing Lolla.

The guy on reddit who probably works for C3 or something has said that the lineup is really solid from top to bottom, and a couple headliners aren't finalized yet but a lot of the good stuff is done. Apparently he's leaving clues in his posts but "It will be a fun weekend. a headliner or two isn't finalized however." doesn't give me much. Something else he said about Lolla 2018: "soon there will be a reckoning!" sorry if this is old news.

It's a little worrying that some headliners haven't been finalized yet? Surely any headliner worth having already has their tour plans for August next year pretty concrete by now?

Nah,Eminem just got booked last month for Coachella. Lolla has four 3-4 months to finalize headliners I didn't realize it can get that close. I find it crazy that major festivals don't have their final set of headliners booked 6 weeks before the lineup comes out. Would stress the hell out of me if I was the promoter.

I mean supposedly Lolla had a backout just before the lineup release and was able book The Killers. I'm sure there are lock in fall back plans.

None. They had likely been working something out for a long time. MAYBE some specifics had to be ironed out, but there's zero chance Coachella drags their feet on someone like Eminem.

First time caller, long time listener here. Want to believe that REM could headline, but it really doesn't seem realistic based on Michael Stipe's public comments. I caught the "reckoning" comment by Reddit guy too, but who knows.
REM - Kendrick - Jack White - Gorillaz Halsey - Travis Scott - EDM - EDM
or

REM is the new Daft Punk? Just keep wishing and it will eventually happen.
Right?
