pigs, let's just skip the fest and do aftershows every night.
Phil Collins * Kanye West * Foo Fighters * Vampire Weekend * Lorde * Gorillaz * Arctic Monkeys * [insert popular generic EDM artist]

But the aftershows were great this year

C3 definitely set the bar for next year and if those Metro shows were only because of Metro's 35th anniversary, that'll be disappointing.

Yeah, I think as long as they do what they did this year minus something extra like Foo Fighters, that's acceptable.

I don't think we can expect the same aftershow lineup for next year, this year just seems like the stars aligned for it to happen. I'm sure they'll try (and I'm sure they always have) but this year just seemed like a lucky year.

I think The National will headline next year in the 6-7 range.

Disagree now mainly because they threw 4 days at us and that's 4 days of walking a festival with 0.8 miles of gravel and pavement between the main stages. Nowadays they only seem to book 4-5 acts I really want to see bad so if we can get half of those covered via aftershows, I'd rather relax all day and catch the show at night.

lorde is playing in march and im sure muse will play uc again on a new album. they don't need to come back (florence and bassnectar didnt after their cancellations)
that being said,
foos, kanye, hopefully a neat reunion, vampire, national, monkeys, and 2 dj's of whatever variety
would probably get me there for some single days for sure.

I think The National will headline next year in the 6-7 range. I'm guessing they play Pitchfork or are festival exclusive for the Midwest at Eaux Claire

The difference being Florence and Bassnectar were able to play a majority of their sets.

i thought flo only played like 30 minutes? (i didnt go that year)
i just dont think lolla owes lorde or muse anything. they likely got paid in full. and the fest got enough flack for doing repeat headliners that they dont need to double up on muse again.

I definitely find it easier to show up at the park every day then to go to multiple after shows. I wish it was 3 days instead of 4 days, but I'm still fond of checking out the smaller bands earlier in the day. It's tough to tell if c3 is great at curating bands with an ascending profile or if it's just the tail wagging the dog with fest bookers, but so many of these bands that I'm eh on for a mid day set wind up being 3rd line at Coachella 6 months later. I like being able to at least mentally place some of these bands, even if they are v bad

Yeah, I agree that Lorde and Muse aren't coming back. Florence as you mentioned is a perfect example since a lot of people thought she'd be back next year to finish her set.

She played for an least an hour I don't see it as Lolla owing it to Muse and Lorde, but more doing it for the fans who attended this year and didn't get to see more than three songs from either act.

I mean both acts will/can come back on their own to please the fans (who would have to pay again next year anyways)

Kanye West * Foo Fighters * Kendrick Lamar * Fall Out Boy
Gorillaz * Vampire Weekend * The 1975 * Zedd
Thu Fall Out Boy vs Vampire Weekend
Fri Kendrick Lamar vs Gorillaz
Sat Foo Fighters vs The 1975
Sun Kanye West vs Zedd
reposted from the 2017 thread. Picked FOB, Foos, The 1975 and Vampire b/c new albums are apparently coming out soon. Ye because of this year's cancellation. I'm assuming he'd like to play his hometown after Chance had 100,000 people at his set. Zedd because I fell on him versus getting a whammy. Gorillaz because ACL Kendrick because why not.

Refusing to get my hopes up for Ye because that's stupid of me to do at this point. Someone mentioned that they talked to a C3 person at the fest this year and they were able to book one of the big headliners for the year already but I mostly don't believe that. With that in mind
Jay-Z- Foo fighters- Gorillaz- Arctic Monkeys Frank Ocean- Odesza- some dumb EDM shit- The National
Man I hope I'm wrong because I'm not a fan of a few of those, but this seems relatively logical sans the bit where I have my hopes up for Frank Ocean to get booked and also show up
